What is the Corsair Carbide Series 330R Titanium Edition Mid Tower Case and what is it Not?

First, let us take a look at what is different between the 330R and 330R Titanium Edition.

There are only two differences between the cases where the Titanium has a gunmetal color brushed aluminum door insert and a fan speed control switch while the 330R has a black brushed aluminum door insert and no fan speed switch. I optioned for the Titanium because I think the gunmetal door insert has a more elegant look than the rather stealth look of an all black computer chassis. Both are constructed to be "quiet" cases and both are ATX form factor.

If you are not familiar with Corsair brand computer chassis cases, you will find that they are a premium line and generally of good design and quality for general consumer use. Corsair brand computer chassis cases as a rule tend to be rather large for their intended audience while this "mid-tower" case is no exception. It is "big" for a mid tower when compared to an off the shelf consumer grade desktop mid-tower case by Acer, Dell, or HP.

I purchased this chassis to house a full size ATX form factor motherboard, Intel 750 Series NVM-e drive, full size graphics card, and oversized closed loop liquid CPU cooler (H110).

The logic behind this particular build is quiet and cool, which as a rule do not go together. Normally one must sacrifice cooling airflow for quiet operation. Since I am utilizing a triple fan cooled GPU in a quiet case I needed substantial exhaust which is provided by the dual 140mm radiator fans. The larger the fan, the slower it turns to produce matched laminar flow.

I bought this case because of its sound dampening qualities, because it looked attractive and most especially because its front panel headphone jack is made of metal. My old case had plastic jacks and after a while, I could not get a reliable connection.

I actually had the local computer service shop replace the insides of my old computer into this case. My computer has 16 GB of RAM, an Intel i-7 3370 CPU, an Asus Xonar DX sound card, an AMD graphics acceleration card, etc., so it's very fast and good. The computer expert commented that this case is rather large - really rather huge for a so-called 'mid' tower. He had no problems with the installation and found no fault with the case.

In person, I find it very attractive and professional looking. The white lights on the power button are nice. You need to open the front to operate the DVD drive, if you have one. It opens easily on good hinges and closes all with a nice solid feel. It is definitely quieter than my old case, but not hugely quiet. Still, for what I was used to, it's a definite improvement in that regard. There is sound insulation on the inside and the metal is solid. For what it is, the price seems pretty good. As with all things, I'm sure I'll come to take the case for granted. But as of now, I find myself looking at it with warm satisfaction!

Cons:

The backside of the mobo could have a smidge more space. The wires fit, and I closed the case myself; but it wasn't "easy".
I wish there was a place to store the cover, I remove it for my cpu cooler *H100i GTX* and its awkward to set on my desk.

Pros:

Fit/Finish are top notch.
The case is cold to the touch even when system is under load.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a quieter design for a case, at least anything reasonably affordable. You can move a great deal of air through this case, and it's only slightly audible. I am able to run practically any load on my build, and the case temp only elevates slightly. The build quality is good, but it looses a star, only because I found cable routing to be a minor headache due to the limited space between the mobo tray and the back cover. Also, by the time SATA and power are routed to the drives, it's hard to keep things uncluttered given the amount of space provided, but it still could be much worse. It's got it where it counts.

Picked this case for my first build, it does the trick. Build quality is good, aluminum panels, plastic hinges, molding and top cover. Four drive bays is enough for most set-ups and let's be honest, you can put SSDs anywhere. It fits my gigabyte gtx 970 windforce cooler which is a statement.

It's quiet. Don't expect silence, especially under a gaming load, but it does its job and stays in a safe temperature range even with mild cpu over clocking and no top case fans. The removable intake screens are easy to remove and clean. Good cable routing requires some patience, especially around the drive bays, but I didn't have to do any gymnastics to get the side cover on in the end.

Build:
Intel i5 4690k processor
Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 970 windforce GPU (single)
Corsair Vengeance 1866 RAM (2x 4gb)
ASUS Z97a Mobo
Antec Earthwatts Platinum 550W PSU
Stock case fans and box cooler.
