I live in a very dry apartment in NYC that gets radiator heat. I really wanted to purchase the Honeywell Humidifier, unfortunately it was out of stock at the time I really needed a humidifier and I bought a Crane Drop Humidifier instead. The Crane humidifier did the job, but was a pain to clean, didn't change humidity as much as I weanted and just felt weak. I kept it anyway, because, well I needed a humidifier and one that didn't take much space. Now I get my Honeywell unexpectedly early and let me say, avoid the Crane and get this Honeywell. Ill include some pictures for comparison.

Pros:
Easy to clean (especially compared to Crane)
I fill it only once a day. (Vs. 2-3 times with Crane)
Attached and spinning directional component allows you to turn direction of humidifier but stays on tight.
Simple understated design.
Honeywell offers a 2yr warranty.
Auto shutoff and light is far less annoying than on other units and you can place a piece of tape over it.

Cons:
Since the crane and the Honeywell both take a gallon, I wonder if the Honeywell is actually outputting less than the Crane or if it is just a better use of technology and doing more with less.
Lack of colors, while I am cool with the design and I am happy that the black unit I purchased blends in, since the unit takes space, it would have been nice to be a design/colorful piece.
It is noisier than the Crane and quite so. While its not as loud as a Laptop computer fan, it comes close to it. I actually like it as it creates a slight white noise but it is still a con. As soon as you start a conversation or play music, you wont notice it. I only notice it when i am writing or reading, but I also get annoyed at ticking clocks, so thats just me.Read more ›

As someone who is currently fighting Flu A, I know the importance of having a cool mist humidifier. I have always used one in winter; it helps me breathe with the dry air and also helps my skin. I have tried Vicks and Holmes, this is the first time I have tried Honeywell.

This was easy to compare to a one gallon Holmes I had in the bedroom before. The one I had I loved; however, it is not until something better comes along that you realize you were missing some features.

I keep my humidifier on my dresser on a tray. I have not had any issues with leakage but also do not want to chance it. The Honeywell looks attractive and I personally like that it has a light on the knob. My other one did not and I personally like the light the Honeywell gives off to help guide me if I get up at night to use the restroom. The low setting on this unit is very silent; you might even wonder if it was on if you did not have the light to look at. The higher speed I can hear but I personally like the white noise sound, it helps me stay asleep. The biggest feature is this does not require replacement filter! The other one I was using the filters were 30% the price of the unit. This is the first cool mist humidifier that I have used without filters and I love it! Another great feature for me is it will automatically shut off when empty. With my other one, I was not able to fill it up as much as I wanted to when ill with the flu and it would make the worse sound when it was empty. The auto shut off is a wonderful feature! Another great feature, humidifiers with filters seems to have huge fans on top that have directional air that blow cold air. This has a nozzle that you can move around to your liking without having to move the whole unit.Read more ›

I reviewed the WHITE Humidifier. The device is compact and does not take up excessive space like the other products I have used. Our air is extremely dry with the California drought and we are having unusually warm weather, yet when we finally turned on the house heaters I wanted to add moisture to our home. After reading the user manual, I made sure to place the appliance away from electronics (big concern) and away from my shuttered windows. I filled the humidifier with regular tap water, though the user manual recommends distilled water to prevent "white dust" on the furniture. For product testing, I put the humidifier to the maximum setting- turned the knob all the way to the right. I checked the appliance every few hours and highly recommend this because one reviewer said her unit leaked! I ran the humidifier for TEN HOURS to see how long the water tank would last, and finally turned it off when my carpets were wet from moisture. The air was significantly improved: less coughing, less sneezing, and dry mouths were improved. I will continue using the device, however now that my product testing is complete I will use a MEDIUM setting and most likely switch to distilled water.

Our house gets uncomfortably dry when we run the heater. We can typically endure it without much issue, but, when our 19-month-old starts to get sick, the dry air causes nasty coughing fits. I was hoping that the Honeywell Cool Mist Humidifier would help us out with this problem. However, when I opened the box and read the instructions, it sounded like there was a real risk of destroying our house or drowning our baby in vapor. In other words, the precautionary statements were pretty intense. That being the case, we tried it out in our room first.

After the first night in our room I was not only confident that no damage or harm would be done, but I was also really impressed. I woke up realizing how gross my nose and throat typically felt in the morning in comparison to how I felt after a night with the humidifier. My sinuses felt moisturized. Which feels great!

After our test run, we put the humidifier in our son's room. His nightly experience was also noticeably improved. The persistent coughing that typically haunts him during various stages of an illness was reduced. He was actually coughing less throughout the night than he was prior to bedtime, which is usually the other way around.

Now this isn't an industrial strength unit, so to speak, but it gets the job done in a reasonably sized bedroom without making the surrounding environment soaking wet. It's a nice little unit that is about as close to silent as one can expect.

I am all-around pleased with the Cool Mist Humidifier. In fact, my wife and I so miss having it in our room since the trial run that we're quite probably going to order another one in the next couple of days.
