I'm sure people who had played Rocksmith 2014 on Xbox 360 are wondering if there are any major differences with the Xbox One Edition, because I know I had those same question. After playing the new edition, and doing my research I've found that the Xbox One Edition has the same core experience as the last Gen Console, except for the facts that the new edition is in 1080p, and seems to had fixed some calibration issues the 360 edition had. Another cool feature is that the Xbox One's Kinect adds improved voice commands, so you don't need to put down your guitar when navigating though the menu.

As far as songs go there are a total of 55 available at the start, and an additional 10 that you can unlock as you play the game. Furthermore, you can transfer all of your past purchases from the 360 edition, but unfortunately, you can not transfer your saved process from the 360 edition to the new Xbox One edition. Overall, that's not a big deal since I will play theses songs over and over again anyway.

Multiplayer: It's super fun to jam with your friends on Rocksmith. This game allows you to plug in two cords and play along with someone else. One player can play lead and the other can choose rhythm, but you can also plug in a bass as well, which is a great option.

I'm sure people are still wondering if they need to upgrade, and just know it's totally your call. Rocksmith has said that they will continue to support the last console, but if you never played Rocksmith before then I highly recommend trying it. This game unfortunately requires additional possible troubleshooting, costs, planning, configuration, & setup.

Based on the variety of reviews that have been posted, there seems to be some question as to whether or not this game will work as is or if you have to take extra steps to reroute your audio signal before it gets to your TV. I wanted to share what the official response is from one of the developers this is from the ubisoft forum http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/924044-Rocksmith-2014-PlayStation-4-amp-Xbox-One-FAQ?s=43061b8a674ba5457c445768f08a07b0 ):

When asked if running HDMI audio through the TV will work or not, this was the developers reply:

It might, but we have a hunch it probably won't work well. Some people say they have no problem, but since there are so many HDTVs out there, all with different chips and designs and innards, there is no way for us to predict any individual user's setup. If HDMI audio works for you, cool! But we really, really do not recommend crossing your fingers and hoping you might be one of the very few people for whom HDMI audio through a TV works just fine. So depending on how you plan on rerouting your audio to some sort of receiver, assuming of course you haven't done so already, your costs can vary.

From my own personal experience, I can attest to purchasing the game only to experience the same latency issues others have complained about. But, I knew going in that it was quite possible that I would have to spend some additional money and do some additional troubleshooting. Knowing upfront what I was getting into did not at all sour my experience with it.

I've just purchased some equipment to isolate my audio signal from my HDMI cable. It was about $45.Read more ›

Finally I will consistently play my guitar!!!

I've had a guitar for years. Every few years i tell myself i'm going to get into it again. The issue is it's a process to plug stuff in put a music stand up... print out tabs etc... (cue black and white-frustration infomercial footage). "THERE'S GOT TO BE A BETTER WAY!"

But this game works guys. It's like playing rockband but you actually learn how to play the guitar. I've taken lessons before which is great but cost a lot of money if you stick with it. This game probably has teachers pissed because it's such a fun way to practice and improve.

I guess the best part of this for me is you play the song with the full band/drums bass and all. Unlike before when it's just you playing alone through the amp. Playing with the full band makes inherently feel like a rock star. The software is smart and picks up on your faults and has you do exercises and even play fun mini games to help you improve.

The only thing that annoys me about this game is the tuning isn't always right and you have to keep fine tuning. However it's not a huge issue.

My hat goes off to Ubisoft on this. I just wish they'd release more songs to download!

I have played guitar since I was about 15. I stopped about 7 years ago and rarely picked up my guitar. This game has revitalized my passion for music and playing guitar. My fingers are getting back into shape and I am even getting callouses on my finger tips again. The song list isn't that expansive, but the store has a lot of songs to buy(at a steep price too) Either way I have been and will continue to play this until I am at my best form. Also, if you plug a digital audio cable directly from the Xbox to a soundbar there is no lag whatsoever.
