This board is great. Got my Fx8350 to 5ghz. HyperX Fury 1600mhz ram to 1866mhz. Cpu temps 56c under full load. R9 290 to 1075mhz core clock.Runs all my games maxed out 60fps solid or better. Looks great performs amazing. If you are on a budget and want performance this is probably the best bang for the buck.

I can't believe the simplicity of this. It is literally my dream motherboard. Gorgeous to show off, with so many ports and the audio boost is actually surprising. Wide range of compatibility, and it can take a beating. Not 5 minutes after I took it out of the box, my cat knocked it off of my work desk (RIP mittens). Picked it up and no physical damage. I am in love with the simplicity of the overclocking and it has the most appealing BIOS I have ever used. If you are looking for a top of the line motherboard with this chip set, look no further.

I wanted a relatively inexpensive but full-featured motherboard as a component in the system I am building. This product fit the bill in all particulars--its UEFI bios is fantastic--much better than the reviews of the UEFI in this board led me to believe it would be. This is my first UEFI product and, frankly, I could not see how it could be much of an improvement over a plain-Jane bios. I am happy to report that this board's UEFI exceeded my expectations--I won't be buying anything else without it in the future. Aside from this UEFI being as fully user-adjustable as I could have wanted--lots of "tinker" features--boot time for this UEFI from cold-boot power on to the Windows loading screen is roughly 5-7 seconds! A bios will generally take 20-30 seconds to get that far into the boot process--as a result, this board fully boots to Windows in about half the time of a bios board. Unexpected bonus!

My board shipped with UEFI version 1.4. Checking it out through the included MSI Live Update feature, I found the latest UEFI version for the product to be 1.7. I used MSI's Live Update through Windows and the update installed perfectly--without a hitch. Highly recommended. (Some people are scared of this method, but I've never been burned by it.)

I settled on the MSI product over, say, the Asus and other brands in the price range, because out of all of them only the MSI board provides me with dual PCIe gpu bandwidth (for CrossFire or SLI) of 16x x 8x. All of the other products in the price range supplied dual gpu support of 16x x 4x--which seems very unbalanced to me--the dual-gpu support in those cases would effectively be limited to 4x. You are much better off with 16x x 8x if you can't have 16x x 16x, than with 16x x 4x.Read more ›

This board is a great board. Probably the best 970 out there right now. For those of you who are looking into a cheap sub 600 dollar build, this will provide the upgradability and longevity you need in the future. First off, this board comes with a beefy VRM (vertical heatsink) to cool your voltage regulator modules. This enables for some very high and stable over clocks. (Someone up there had their 8350 at 5ghz). The horizontal heat sink gets quite hot though so make sure you have something actively cooling it. The board comes with two 8x PCIe slots. Some may be wondering why. The 970 architecture only allows for 1 lane of 16x and the other must be 4x. We all know a crossfire/SLI setup with a 16x and 4x is a terrible idea. 8x speed is equivalent to 16x speed at the moment because most if not all video cards to date cannot utilize the available bandwidth. MSI really hit home run on this one, an effective way to use 970 chipset for crossfire and sli. For those of you like myself who do music production like myself and need the best noise free mb out there, this is the go to. It has shielded circuitry and Japanese caps along with gold plated jacks. Pair this with a low ripple PSU and you've got a great studio setup. the board is able to run 2133 mhz RAM but its worth noting that the speed of the ram depends on whether your CPU can handle it. The phenom series can only run a max of 1333 mhz for those of you like me.

Before buying this board, I did a Lot of research trying to find an affordable AM3+ mobo that had all the good features (like sata3) AND also sported usb 3.0 headers for the front usb 3.0 connectors on my case. Mind you, many more Expensive boards boast USB 3.0 support, but most of them only have usb 3.0 ports at the BACK only. If you have a chassis that has usb 3.0 front connectors, you would not be able to use them on Most of these other mobos.

This mobo just does the trick for me. Its AFFORDABLE, has a usb 3.0 header, sata3, a graphical interface bios (very easy to navigate and has mouse support), and the back has only the necessary modern connectors for a nice clean look (no serial ports, lol)

I am very happy with this product and Highly recommend it.
