There are two types of huskies in this world, our trainer told us. The "I'll eat everything until I balloon to 500 lbs" type, and the "I will not eat anything" type. I have the latter. I cannot tell you how much we've tried. I got to the point where I was cooking ground beef and veggies, mixing in coconut oil and crumbled treats. Even THAT was not always enough to get her to eat ONE MEAL A DAY. She was a young otherwise healthy dog going on 3 day hunger strikes. I was desperate.

I honestly didn't think this would work, but I had a coupon, and thought, why the heck not. Mixed in 3 scoops of this (she's 65 lbs, frankly 3 lbs underweight for her large frame) with her regular kibble, Orijen brand. Suddenly it was devoured! I thought, this miracle surely will not persist. She'll be into it for a few days like always, because it's new, and then the magic will fade like with everything else. Well I'm 2 weeks into this experiment and am completely sold. Today she ate two smaller meals instead of one big one - a huge improvement. Just getting her to be hungry twice in one day is amazing to me. She eats excitedly, as opposed to nibbling at it an hour after I set down the bowl. She FINISHES her kibble, instead of leaving half of it.

Besides all this, which would have been enough for me to love this product, her digestive system is improved. A dog with chronic diarrhea is no longer a sufferer. No gas, less burping. HAPPY MOMMA!

I know it's a bit expensive, but if you're like me, you're already spending more than you think each month in random products and produce begging your dog to eat. Possibly also at the vet, where you're getting consults for your starving dog and meds for an upset tummy. Give this a try, even if you have lost hope!

Great for dogs who are allergic to other types of protein! More expensive than Stella & Chewy's frozen patties as an only food source and they don't make a seafood-only raw frozen dog food. (I did however contact Stella & Chewy's directly with the suggestion.) Stinky which means yummy in dog terms and can be used as training treats. My Frenchie loves them and is easily motivated by even the hint of these pieces. Seems pricey because the bag is light and I don't feel like this is any kind of awesome deal but my Frenchie has many, many food allergies so here we are.

**BE AWARE: This is a new product so pricing is all over the map, but I've found it in stores (Land Bark in Sacramento for $30.99 and Next to Nature in Seattle for $33.49) and online (see other sellers on Amazon: Pet Flow for $30.99 - http://www.petflow.com/product/stella-chewy/stella-and-chewy-s-freeze-dried-meal-mixers-savory-salmon-and-cod-formula-for-dogs). The listing for something like $36.99 is too much and at that point, I will probably start making my own raw food.

Update 6/2015 - My Frenchie and I went on a 2 week trip and stayed at a friend's vacation home. One thing I absolutely love is that Amazon shipping is reliable. Instead of taking a flight, then stopping at a pet supply store, I just ordered from Amazon and had the food delivered to my friend's place. Since Amazon is a) reliable and b) has excellent tracking, I knew that my pup's food was waiting for us when we arrived at our home away from home. Very convenient to say the least and definitely worth the few dollars in price difference.

One other note, there are some old batches out there where the pieces turn to seafood dust by looking at them the wrong way.Read more ›

I bought this back in Feb. did not open until about a month ago been using it as topper for my dog one or 2 at a time and not all the time couple times a week my dog keep getting diarrhea then I decided to us it up and gave it to her every day she got really sick so we stopped all food and did cooked chicken and rice she got better started food again with this and sick again then the recall came. Never going to buy this again!!!

I haven't tasted it myself but I'll trust my 75 lb yellow lab who loves this stuff. first thing in the morning I crumble a half dozen or so nuggets into a cup of kibble and she'll be pawing me to hurry up. She gets a couple of nuggets before I put the bowl down and then she polishes off her breakfast in short order - whereas if I run out the bowl might sit there hardly touched for hours, despite the fact that we only give her premium kibble. She's a bit of a foodie so her enthusiasm is high praise.

I reluctantly took home a sample from the pet store---my .miniature poodle disdains all dry,moist,mass-marketed and home-made gourmet dog treats. She. Likes. These. OMG. Now I can tempt her to p
lay with her dog puzzle! Bored poodles are very inventive so keeping her occupied while I'm at work is vital! These are beef with fruits & veggie freeze dried into crunchy lumps. No grains. Not a milk-bone-like cookie but a chunk of dried not-jerky meat.

Best mixer ever. My dog loves it so much that I can give him a couple of them as a special treat besides his daily meals (I put 4 or 5 nuggets with his dried food). They are expensive but totally worth it.
