Bought 2 of these. One to work with Arlington TVBU505BL-1 Recessed TV Outlet Box with Paintable Trim Plate, Black, 2-Gang. Unfortunately the low voltage cords, in particular a monitor cable, that I planned on threading through this were a little bit too large to fit through the opening. No problem. Hubby used the dremel to cutaway the back a little bit and voila! After that I spray painted it black to match the rest of the recessed box and the outlet installed right next to it. Yes, they do sell them in black if you don't want to paint them yourself but the black do not include free shipping and I already had the spray paint. Anyway, I installed the second "chute" into a different low voltage gang box where speaker cables were just coming out. I finished it off with Liberty Hardware 64405 Beaded Single Decorator Wall Plate, Venetian Bronze. Now the cables and cords are not such a mess behind the TV. Just keep in mind you will need something to screw this into, such as a low voltage gang box mounting bracket or the recessed outlet above because the included screws are not meant for drywall application. Worked well, I trimmed off the exact size for the cable that was going to pass through it and it sealed up nicely. I like it much more than the "bristle/brush type" face plates. It appeared to be good quality and it did not crack when I tightened down the face plate screws excessively.

Unlike the other reviewer I didn't think $5 was bad for this item. It is really hard to find the inserts in black in my experience and certainly there are none in big box stores that I could see. I have seen white ones cheaper but when you factor in shipping it is not that much different from this one if you have Amazon Prime and it ships free. Anyway, time is money as my mother used to say and it was easy to order online....

The insert fits in any regular Decora style wall plate without problem. I'm just using it for a couple of subwoofer cables and a HDMI cable for which there was plenty of space. It has the same dimensions as other brands

A lower cost approach to pulling low voltage cables from the wall. For power, I use a recessed clock outlet. Using the combination of the two cuts the cost to half of what a combination unit costs from Arlington (although I have used the combination units and they are very good). In addition, using the two separate units allow for more flexibility in placement where there is not enough space for the larger combination units.

Love these things. Recently built a home. Wired it thoroughly before drywall with tech, speaker, about 3 other kinds too. Makes a clean exit for the wires coming out of the wall. A tip of you are building - run wide diameter flexible conduit between points if you think you will want to add more wires later to make it easier. bought 4. 1 broke the first month, otherwise 5 stars

Fits nicely in standard Decora wallplates, makes it possible to install low-voltage generic ports (e.g. for an unknown collection of HDMI/optical/coax/RCA wires you don't want to commit keystone ports for) alongside other low-voltage ports like keystone plates and speaker terminals. Most low-voltage open ports are either ugly or require their own wall aperture; this looks elegant (well, more than an open hole or one of the star-shaped push-through gaskets) and fits nicely.

Quality construction. Easy to install, and you can feel the weight of the plastic so it should be very durable. The brush bristles are firmly installed and none fell out while routing various wires through them. The opening may seem small, but I have 4 HDMI cables of standard thickness and two Ethernet cords going through mine. Even with that I estimate at least another 3 cables could easily route through. Would recommend to someone looking for a clean wall mounted TV cable routing solution.

As an AV installer I go through a lot of different options. I recently started using these instead of Vanco or wall hoods as they seemed practical. Well, now these are my go to option for making my openings nice and clean. These are easier to work with, leave a flush look and add more practicality to my openings for wire work.
