It seems to work perfectly with my MacBook Pro with Retina display (Mid 2012) running Yosemite. I haven't done any speed test benchmarking, but there don't seem to be any bottlenecks in data transfer. iTunes updates of an iPhone or an iPad seem to take about the same amount of time as when I connect them directly to the laptop's USB's port directly.

The port also acts as a charging station. It provides enough power to each port to charge iPhone and iPad, whether or not the computer is turned one or even attached, though I haven't tried doing both devices at the same time.

I basically got the port to extend the number of USB devices I could attach to my laptop at that same time as I keep a USB drive connected to my laptop with data all the time, leaving only one free port for accessories. With this I can keep my extended keyboard, iOS device, and other USB devices plugged into the hub and it does not require swapping plugs constantly. It is easy to reconnect everything when I get back home, as I only have the one USB cord to plug in and then I am leaving, it is just the one cord that needs to be removed.

Unlike other USB hubs I have had in the past, this one seems to work really well. Almost effortlessly.

There's a significant buffering latency such that if you're thinking about connecting an audio device to this thing, you'd hear stuttering and lag.
Other than that, there's not much to say, it's fine.

Read up on the device limitations of USB 3.0. It is a MAJOR Industry Wide Failure and Design Flaw that limits the number of devices on USB 3.0 systems. Wish I knew about before I bought my USB 3.0 laptop. If we all stop buying USB 3.0, maybe the industry will fix it.

Received it today, plugged it in today in the manner required, am returning it tomorrow since none of the ports work. No one's perfect, but what really frosts me is that evidently to save a few pennies on packaging the unit has a two-part AC plug unlike any I've ever seen. The part at the end of the cord has prongs too short to fit into a standard AC outlet so they include the rest of it as a separate part which snaps onto the truncated part at the end of the cord, then it works since the unit lit up.

Problem was trying to get it apart to stuff it back into the box. May be possible, but in order to avoid possibly damaging it I just stuffed it back into the box which now looks like it's with child.

Worse than that, thinking about long-term quality, can you really trust a company to give you quality when their cost controls are so tight that they're trying to save a few pennies by making the product box smaller, and which seems to have so little foresight that it doesn't anticipate (or perhaps care) about the return problem.

My answer is "no" so I'm moving on to another brand even though my previous portable hub from them was bought in 11-2011 and just died, which I suppose is good service.

The product is very pocketable and comes with a AC adaptor - in case you need additional power.

My laptop has two ports- one USB 2 and other USB 3.

When my cellphone is tethered (using USB 2) through USB 3 hub with USB 3 port on my laptop, the device is not recognized. To make it recognize my cellphone that is tethered to the USB 3 hub and attached to the USB 3 port i have to restart my laptop with my cellphone still tethered to the USB 3 hub attached to the laptop. Also sometimes the mouse is not recognized on some USB slots of the hub.

To me it looks like it is more of a USB 2 and USB 3 communication problem than a problem with the hub. But i am not sure.

However this is not a big issue as there are workarounds.
