Pantene is known for producing quality hair products. I expected “Pantene Pro-V Expert Collection Fade Defy Vibrant Color Conditioner”, a thick golden-colored and lightly fragranced crème, to give me soft, manageable hair and to protect my demi-permanent, “refreshed” hair color.

When squeezed from the tube, this conditioner did not spread. It required extra product and significant massaging to work it through my chin-length hair. When “rinsed” out, “Pantene Pro-V Expert Collection Fade Defy Vibrant Color Conditioner” left my hair feeling as if it had a slight coating. As an experiment, I put a dollup of conditioner on the shower floor; its shape remained exactly as it was when dispensed from the tube. When I cleared conditioner from the tile, water rolled off the tile as if the tile had been waxed.

However, the real test of “Pantene Pro-V Expert Collection Fade Defy Vibrant Color Conditioner” was the way it left my hair after it was styled. I was not impressed. The ends of my hair felt dry and slightly brittle; there were a significant number of fly-aways. On the day I used this conditioner, the crown of my hair looked clean and felt fine. However, the next day it looked as if my hair needed washed again and daily washing does little to preserve “refreshed” hair color.

The idea that “Pantene Pro-V Expert Collection Fade Defy Vibrant Color Conditioner” helps prevent fading of “refreshed” hair color is a good one. Because I expected this conditioner, in addition to preserving color, to rinse out cleanly and to leave my hair soft and manageable, I cannot recommend this product as it is no better than the average conditioner.

Pantene makes good conditioners, and the Pro-V Fade Defy is no exception. I don't use it on my roots, but everywhere else. It rinses well and leaves my hair easy to brush.

My issue is the misleading packaging statement that says my hair will have "Noticeably more intense hair color from day 1". What that implies and what they mean must be two different things, otherwise this would be a color depositing conditioner, in my opinion.

It's decent conditioner, but stop the exaggerated claims.

This Pantene Expert Fade Defy Conditioner is something to rave about. It delivers even MORE than it promises.
I tried this conditioner at the end of my coloring cycle when my color was faded. I did not even pair this conditioner with the recommended Fade Defy Shampoo and it worked better than I expected.

I was surprised (and happy) with the results. So many products promise but don’t deliver.
The color did perk up. My hair is shinny and soft.

But there’s more.

I didn’t have to use the leave in conditioner that I ALWAYS use in addition to a rinse out conditioner. Fade Defy seemed to repair my fly-away split ends. My hair doesn’t look or feel like straw. This is reason enough for me to want to rave about Fade Defy.

I would use this conditioner even if I didn’t color my hair.

It is also a ‘split end defy’.

More Good News: Some of us use a particular brand of home hair coloring that comes with an after color conditioner that is so fabulous there’s even an online site devoted to the search for this conditioner or one that can do the job as well. The conditioner is not sold separately from the hair color. I even called the company just to be sure.

The good news is that this is the closest thing I have found.

This 8.4 oz tube of conditioner from Pantene, a well regarded company is reasonably priced and definitely worth a try.

My hair felt, and looked, dry, and didn't look as good day 2 as it did day one (I can usually go 3-4 days without washing when I use the flatiron). I have my thick, coarse, menopause, curly, dry, neck-length hair highlighted every six weeks and flat-iron once a week.

I do like the way my hair feels soft after using this but I hate that it makes my hair feel heavy and weighed down. I just put this on the ends once a week as my hair is almost to my waist and I feel like only the ends need that extra help.

The scent is good.

If you haven't tried the Pantene expert line of conditioners you're missing it. My hair is processed with color and bleach so it is a real feat to build in body and shine. This is what you do. Wash and towel dry. Use a lot of conditioner. Wrap with heated towel (I use water heated in an electric heater and wring it out and wait for it to get to the point I can tolerate it before I wrap it around my hair which is thick with conditioner. Keep it on 20-30 min and then take off the towel and let your hair get cold before you do a cool rinse so that the hair shaft closes it's scales. Air dry. You will have shiny silky hair no matter what the condition prior.

I recently had my hair professionally dyed and my hairdresser mentioned that I would need some color conditioner to maintain the hair better. I have always has success with the Pantene collection so when I saw that they offered a color treatment variety, I jumped at the chance to try it out! The Fade defy bares a pleasant fruity smell and, like the other Pantene predecessors, leaves hair radiant and soft. I would defenelty recommend this product to all color treated individuals!
