Chose this over a vitamix because it is easier to clean, and the shorter height fits it under the cabinets. It also looks very nice, when off the top panel is pure black.

No where in the same ballpark as a sub $300 blender. Crushes ice and smoothies like nothing. Worth the money in my opinion.

THIS JUST IN! SCALIA IS DEAD. I will now marry this blender once Obama's nomination to the supreme court is approved. But in all seriousness this is the world's best blender. After decades of owning a vita mix, my forearm was just too tired to keep PLUNGING. The great thing about the blendtec blenders other than their better, more solid construction, and equally great warranty is their TRUE innovation when it comes to their blender jars. The WILDSIDE jar is so good that you never have to use a plunger. And this particular blendtec has great pre-programmed settings that ensure a quick and perfect blend, each and every time. If you want a solid, reliable, gorgeous, and innovative blender, look no further than the Blendtec Designer 625 with WILDSIDE + JAR.

PS: for nut butters and thick pastes, I HIGHLY recommend Blendtec's TWISTER JAR. It's TRUE innovation.

Fun Fact: Vita-Mix knows that blendtec's jars are so much better they actually stole the jar design from Blendtec and then Vita Mix was court ordered to pay a fine for copyright/patent infringement.

just received replacement twister jar because of bearing failure

now the wildside jar bearing has failed and causing motor heatup

for an expensive machine the jars are not repairable and are junk

just got my blendtec recently and am having several problems that I didn't expect considering the price. Previously I had a ninja which doesn't have near the blending power but it did have some features that I miss with the Blendtec. With the ninja, the lid locked on. With the blendtec I have had an overflow because the lid doesn't really lock on. The ninja also had a pour spout. No such feature with the blendtec. When dealing with frozen smoothies they tend to just bulk dump out over the edge of your cup or glass since there isn't a pour spout to stop it. Also, the blendtec jar doesn't lock in like a ninja and it tends to bobble around a bit. The part that is really disappointing is that I have smoothies that only mix on the bottom or end up with chunkies in it because it seems there is a precise formula of solid to liquid ratio that you have to get with every smoothie you blend for it to blend correctly. Lastly, it really doesn't hold much volume. I have a recipe book that has recipes for 2 servings. When I double the recipes to make 4 smoothie servings is when I have the most problems such as overflowing or not blending correctly. It is sad that with a $400 blender I can only really make 2 smoothies at a time. I have a family of 6.......

I been juicing for a couple years with Nutra; went through about 3 of those. This beauty is a beast, sounds like a heavy duty piece of American assembled equipment (proud of it). Purifies all my juicing incrediants! You name it, through it in there.

Like the digital display with a timer, haven't tried the soup heater yet.

Overall a 5 star for those looking to invest for better overall health. The big leagues of juicing.

I bought the 625 model from bed bath and beyond as I had a gift card and 20% off for the store. However if I had to pay from pocket I would have bought fom amazon. So far so good. I have tried indian reciepes like dosa batter, chutneys, almond-pistachio lassi (sort of smoothie) to name a few. I yet have to try making dough, ice cream and soup. The presets on this thing is awesome and we actually tried to not hold lid while blending. The lid so far has not come off making me confident of leaving the machine to run on preset time. However, doing things manually will be a bit of trial and error specially for some recipes which do not have any videos or time-speed suggestions out there. Seems like there is a bit of learning curve here which is why 4 stars though the product is best I could have bought. Will update once I try other options.

I bought one from BB&B, the other night, the blender is fantastic. It has a funky burning smell in the two days since my purchase, but Blendtec notes this on their very short operating guide, it's the motor breaking in and should go away in a few days. Part of the draw to this machine, besides the outstanding performance, is that is looks great on the counter, it's not big and bulky. it has clean smooth lines and no protruding buttons or glitzy plastic stuff. The height is outstanding at only 15 inches it fits under any kitchen cabinet with 3 inches to spare.

Last night for dessert, I made strawberry ice cream using freshly frozen strawberries and cream, WONDERFUL!!. I have to say it was the best ice cream I've ever had. The 4 smoothies I made were perfect too. Next on the to do list is soup. So far I'm very impressed. In my opinion they don't include much written material with the blender. The recipe book is small and has very few recipes. they expect you to go online and read the manual there, which I did but still need more information. Curious why they didn't include the crushed ice and auto clean buttons on this model??? it was on the previous version that cost less.
