Style Name: GTX 970 SC
EDIT: Please be aware these reviews are all lumped together for SIX versions of the 970 card. My review was actually for the EVGA GTX 970 SSC (Super Superclocked) ATX 2.0 (04G-P4-1975-KR) that is no longer listed here. I originally bought that model because I definitely wanted the ATX 2.0 fan and it was the forst card in stock at the time. Thanks to EVGA's 60 Day step up program, I am updating to the EVGA GeForce GTX 970 FTW ACX 2.0 (04G-P4-2978-KR) for $10 plus $11 shipping. Say what you want, I love EVGA.
As far as fan noise, there is a firmware update for the 970 ATX 2.0 cards that allows the fan to be at 0% when idle. It makes the fans more efficient on the atx 1.0 cards, but doesnt offer the 0%. Here's the link. http://forums.evga.com/EVGA-GTX-970-ACX-Firmware-Update-v11-m2228516.aspx

Let me start by saying I am no overclocking expert, but consider myself pretty knowledgeable. I upgraded from the EVGA GTX 660 TI FTW to this exact card.
Pros:
1) This card is smaller.
2) this card draws way less power
3) runs much quieter
4) benchmarks more than 2x faster

I have this card overclocked using EVGA's Precision X 16 software to power target 110% (max)
GPU Clock Offset +100 MHz
Mem Clock Offset +300 MHz

3DMark Firestrike benchmark score = 9204(!!! for single GPU!) (slightly better than the 780 TI at less than half the price, better than the Titan line
Unigine Heaven Benchmark on full screen extreme settings = 81.7 FPS, score 2059
Unigine Valley Benchmark full screen Extreme HD Preset = 59.7 FPS, score 2498

FY! - free versions of these benchmarking tools are available. download them and see what you're getting now to compare. Then you will see how amazing this card really is.

This Card is everything I wanted! I can play GTA 5 at Very High 1080p at 60fps. Plus the zero RPM fan mode on the dual bios means that the fans don't even spin up until the card gets up to 60° C. So near silent performance with a pretty good kick to it. Amazingly I have no complaints about this card!

UPDATE 2/24/15 : I have read in tech-news that Nvidia had misinformed all about the memory performance of all GTX 970 cards (does NOT affect GTX 980 cards) and that Newegg and Amazon have been offering full or partial refunds to folks who ask (Google "Nvidia 970 memory issue"). From what I gather this will mainly affect those with large resolutions above 1920x1080 in causing game stutter due to the remaining 512MB of VRAM being slower than the first 3.5GB. Just a heads-up.

UPDATE 1/9/15 : "Coil-whine" - in another review and also a comment made to my review if you limit the frames to the refresh rate of your monitor (this is ideal) it will get rid of the coil whine. I downloaded "Nvidia Inspector" from Guru3D, went to settings, then under frames limiter set it to a value - preferably the refresh rate of your monitor. (I settled on 120 even though my monitor's max refresh rate is 144Hz).

INTRO

First things first, there are about 6 different cards under one umbrella here so I will explicitly say that the one I purchased was the (04G-P4-2977-KR) (FTW reference with ACX 2.0 heatsink/fan assembly, hardware version 1.0). The product image on Amazon showed that it would have a "REF" labeled on the front of the box while SuperClocked would get a "SC" and FTW would get a "FTW". My box showed a "SC" even though it is actually a "REF"; verified via the sticker on the underside of the card with the exact modal number "2977". The SuperClocked card is a "2974".

Style Name: GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0
Pros: I got two of these to run in SLI. Upgraded from 280x crossfire. Pretty amazing performance upgrade.

Pretty much chews up anything I throw at it. All my games run 1440p ultra settings at or near 120 fps. Crysis 3, Farcry 3, TW: Rome 2, Tomb Raider. You gotta get a 120hz monitor to be able to appreciate the high frame rates if you're using a single monitor setup.

They overclock pretty well too. I had trouble doing anything with my 280x's when they were in crossfire. These cards have one of the higher factory overclocks available. But without fussing around much I was easily able to boost core clock and memory clock another 100mhz each, which brings the boost clock up to 1455mhz. Without changing any power or voltage settings. Pretty slick.

Temps are pretty great too. I've read the reports on the ACX cooler only having two of the three main copper pipes making contact with the GPU, but to be honest I'm not sure if this even applies to the ACX 2.0 cooler, which this card has. With the 100mhz overclock, one of the cards peaks at 73 (the card on top), the lower card peaks about 65. They idle at 31 / 25 respectively.

Small size for a card of this power, easy installation. Low power consumption. With relatively aggressive OC to my CPU (3.5 -> 4.5) and two of these cards OC'd as above, I'm able to run everything without issue on a 750 PSU.

Cons: The one ding on this card is a mild coil whine. It's hardly noticeable but it is there. I only noticed it when the side panel was off and I listened for it while testing everything out. When the side panel is on I pretty much can't hear it at all.
