This is not a bad baby wash, but I have to say it's different than the Burt's Bees Baby Bee Shampoo & Wash 96% natural.

They both are OK, but they are different products!

The 99% natural is a milky liquid, and it feels like it has a conditioner in it - it's better for the hair, but it doesn't lather a lot, and I ended up using much more of it to wash my son. It's fragrance free, but there is still some scent to it - probably the oils.

The 96% natural is a clear yellow liquid, it has a strong fragrance (like many Burt's Bees products, unfortunately), and it lathers much more. The 96% lasted for over six months of every day washes, when this one is almost gone after a month... I would say that the 99% natural is a better shampoo, when the 96% natural is a better body wash. And the 99% natural is probably better for very young children.

According to the Environmental Working Group's [...] work on toxins in consumer products, Burts Bees Baby Bee Fragrance-Free Shampoo rates a 2 out of 10. Lower numbers represent a lower health risk...Aside from the lower risk factors, it smells really nice. I know it is listed as fragrance-free, but the natural oils used in the product do have a natural scent (rosewood, sweet almond, coriander fruit oil). I think Burts Bees means "no added or artificial" fragrance when it states fragrance-free. My girls love it...it lathers nicely and rinses away quickly which is a plus when rinsing hair.

New formulation on this one and we won't be buying any more. Laurel this and Laurel that added. Not so natural after all.

It is shocking what marketing does. Burt's Bee sales a non-organic product for at least twice the cost of an organic Baby Wash. I had run out of Dr. Bronner Baby Wash where the 32oz usually sales for something around $16 and I was looking into Burt's Bee and I am so glad that I am not a baby who can not read ingredients. With Bronner, I get only four organic ingredients, nothing more and nothing less for more than half the cost. Burt's Bee prices are truly obserd especially when you can purchase a 32oz Baby Wash by Whole Foods for only $2.99 which is not organic but it is almost as good as Burt's Bee for something like 1/5 of the price. Clorox Corporation acquired Burt's Bee for something close to one billion dollar in 2007. For their marketing, Clorox deserves a five star since after all they are charging the same high prices in Target where I got to read the ingredients. I gave it two star since the ingredients are just a bit better than the other cousin, Baby Shampoo by Johnson... after all what are these lies of natural, or 98% or 96% natural. Ridiculous.

The description mentions several things that are not in this baby wash, but unfortunately it has the preservative sodium benzoate in it! I can't imagine that people who are going to the trouble of buying all natural products for their babies would be too happy about that. I certainly am not!

I thought I was doing my newborn a favor by buying all natural products. After using this body wash for 5 months my baby developed cradle cap and eczema that would only clear up by using Cetaphyl RestoraDerm body wash and lotion which costs about $15 a bottle. The first thing you should consider before buying ANY product that has so many flowers or other possible allergens is that your baby could actually have an allergic reaction to something in the concoction. My baby did not have an overnight reaction, but a long, hard to pinpoint reaction. I also used the baby bee diaper cream and my pediatrician told me to stop using it because it was making her little folds irritated because of the lavender. I digress... two days after discontinuing the baby bee shampoo, the eczema cleared up.

I may have a super sensitive baby, but I wanted others to know that buying all natural products can be great - you just have to know exactly what you are putting on their skin (I am in alternative medicine as a career and it killed me to think about putting chemicals on her skin). The skin is the largest organ in the body and whatever you put on the skin absorbs directly into the body. I fought the idea of using a body wash that wasn't all natural even as simple as dove (which has SLS and isn't natural, but considered by many to be "safe"), but discontinuing this product actually has saved by precious little one's skin from the red, dry patches that itched and cradle cap that wouldn't go away even after a 3 week dose of hydrocortisone cream. Now, I just use the cetaphyl body wash and lotion and put a little lotion on her head and she is absolutely wonderful.
