In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body."     These sneakers are incredibly comfortable as I've come to expect from Asics. The one drawback to these is due to the Gore-Tex feature, which I chose specifically because I work in a hospital and wanted the extra safety barrier. Because of the lining, these do not breathe as well as a standard mesh sneaker despite the look of them. This means they get a bit sweatier than I'd like, but I rotate them with the last model and use bamboo/charcoal bags to reduce the moisture and bacteria buildup. I've also worn them in very wet weather and my feet have stayed dry. Definitely recommend, these are worth it if you need the water resistance.

    Hope they last as they feel great right now. I've got a theory on Asics running shoes. They must rotate sizing and features between models. I started wearing Kayano's years ago. They changed the fit so I switched to Nimbus. Fit perfect. Changed sizing. Now I'm on Cumulus. Feels great. I'll probably wind up with Kayano's in a year or two due to Asics changing ways.

    First off let me say that I'm a woman but I have wide feet so I occasionally buy men running shoes. I bought these because I loved the blue color and my previous ASICS' lasted for years before they wore out. I use these as my normal everyday shoes and at the gym for aerobics class/treadmill. They're very comfortable with good arch support and enough room in the toe area not to pinch. I have to walk (a lot) some days at work so these shoes were a great purchase. Oh, one minor complaint. While the shoes look like they're made of mesh they aren't.

    I attached a video to show the color. It's a lot more vibrant than expected. I pulled my jeans up so no, I'm not walking around like that all day.

    My husband bought these because he wanted to put a little pizzazz in his footwear instead of sporting subdued, blah colors. They're not one of those kaleidoscopic explosions shoes currently in vogue, but it's a dynamic blue and really perky. The reflection makes his blue eyes bluer! He loves 'em and so do I. And, yes, the actual color is more vibrant than what is pictured.

    These are as comfortable as any Asics plus they really grab your heel so there is no foot movement against the back of the shoe. There is neither over nor under pronation; the shoe rolls straight. Gortex does what it's supposed to do - the air reaches into the shoe; I mostly feel the cool air above the toes.

    These shoes are the best. They fit great, keep my legs from hurting, and look great. They are also water resistant so they help keep your feet dry in the rain. An added benefit is they help keep the wind from freezing your toes because of the goretex lining. What a great shoe.
