I gave these earphones 5/5 for a number of reasons that I will list in this review right now. But first let me describe what I listen to and what my experience with earphones is like. I am a previous owner of the Sennheiser IE 8 IEMs. Those were amazing earphones, a real joy to listen to. Unfortunately, they were lost in an unfortunate partying accident. I also own a pair of Monster beats that I have used for my workouts, nothing more (I got them on an incredible sale and I needed earphones that I wouldn't feel sorry for in a gym). I listen to rock, metal, fusion, jazz, soundtracks, blues and old school funk. I consider myself a moderate audiophile and I have a massive original album collection (over 450 CDs). I also own two pairs of pro studio monitor phones (Roland and AKG).

So, now on to the review:

1. In the store where I was buying these in-ear heaphones, I compared them to the Beyerdynamic T50, to Sennheiser IE 8, and to my regular Monster Beats. Let me say that the IE60s owned the Beats like no tomorrow - hands down. The Sennheiser IE 8 won in comparison to the IE60s, but they wer also twice the price and the victory was not twofold, so, considering that I am planning to buy a new set of circumaural phones in a couple of weeks, it seemed like overkill to get the IE 8s again. The Beyerdynamics were a whole different beast and although I liked how their treble sounded, I hate the lack of bass and low-mids. The IE60s seemed like the best combination of high quality audio with a great price. I paid exactly 200 US Dollars for my pair.

2. I tested the IE60s on a number of songs:

Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Warriors of the Wasteland / The Power of Love / Relax. Let me say that these headphones work very well with this kind of music.

Used to own an IE6, broken under normal use in 1yr and a half, I didn't know Senn has a warranty back then, until I bought an IE80. I sent the IE6 back to repair recently and they sent me back a brand new pair of IE60s. Though I haven't listened to the IE6 in like 2 years, immediately I realizes how similar their sound signature are between 6 and 60. I'd say 60 has slightly improved details and a little bit more balanced sound.
Compared to IE80--there's no comparison, IE80's got much bigger soundstage, better details, better treble and bass. I think now you can buy the 80 off amazon for less than 300$, if you have the money, buy it.
But if you wanna spend less than 200$ on headphones, hands down IE60. Why? First, they are comfortable, much more comfortable than the 80, the around-the-ear style wearing technique makes this even better.
It has good isolation, no problem using it in a library or just wanna wear it to block some noise.
It has very balanced, classic sennheiser sound signature. I used to have a pair of MX880, a pair of MX400, and I currently, despite ie60 and 80, still have another mx365 and HD380pro. I have a friend who owns the HD650, I used to try it out often when we still lived close. In a sentence, I've heard Senn's sound at a broad price range. I wouldn't say IE60 is the bang for the buck because different people have different taste, one might like the sound of Shure or Audio Technica better. But I you wanna get an authentic balanced Senn's sound, which to me is pretty awesome, for a reasonable price and will probably last you quite a while (their cable is really really really strong), get the IE60

Firstly as reference, I own both IE60 and IE80. The IE60 is to me an absolute bargain.

The difference between the IE80 and 60 in sound quality boils down to the mids. With the right tips (Sony Hybrids are the ones I find give me the best sound quality on the 60) The mids on the IE60 are simply incredible, giving these a very intimate sound and feel. These have a very very nice balanced sound leaning on the bassy side but still maintaining just enough clarity.

The stock wide bore tips don't bring out the best in the IE60 and neither do the Comply (which kills highs as this is already a bassy iem and also because this iem works better with tips that don't have a long stem), the double flange and Sony hybrids are the tips I would recommend for these iem.

I bought these earphones after previously owning the ie80's. I am not too much of an audiophile but i do know what good brand earphones there are. bought these for primary use at the gym and while studying, sound quality is amazing for me and they are really good for staying in your ears while you are running, although i am not sure that they are sweatproof. Also it was cool that it included the same case as the ie80's except the molding inside really is not that good because its more for the ie80's. I prefer earphones without the mic and controls because it creates less bulk while working out. If you are looking for a medium priced earphones from a well known reputable sound brand, these would be my recommendation.

just got these so this is a first impression review. right out of the box with the attached earbuds the fit was great. I attached the over ear pieces that keep the cable in place and that seems to work perfectly. now for the sound.....I've had them on for the last hour or so and I have to say these are wonderful. voices are crisp and clear, and all aspects of the music are very well represented. if you want a very comfortable great fitting and great sound seat of in ear headphones I highly recommend the ie60.
