These are what they say they are - technically.

We previously used the generic Target brand of the same type of product, but since these cost the same amount for twice as many, this seemed like a no-brainer. (One of our old ones split after about 5 years of use.) We received these, put them in the dryer, sat down to watch a TV show, and couldn't even hear it at the normal volume. We also have an infant daughter so the somewhat irregular banging of 2-4 of these in the dryer during naps/nighttime was a surefire way to cause everyone to lose some sleep.

They're a little smaller than the ones we're used to, and completely inflexible. These sat on top of the dryer for a couple months and got tried a few more times. I finally gave up on finding an alternate use for them and pitched them. We're back to the Target brand ones, and the noise problems are gone.

If you're using these in a laundromat or a basement laundry room these should work. If your laundry is done near where you actually live while the dryer is running, steer clear.

I bought a pack of these when one of my two original "As Seen On TV" versions shattered after six years of regular use. I use them primarily to knock the stiffness out of line-dried towels and shirts or to help re-fluff a down jacket after washing (not for any anti-static properties or to reduce drying time). For my purposes, they seem quite effective. Compared with the originals, these are about 20% smaller, 50% lighter and feel somewhat harder. Given the smaller dimensions and heft, I think it probably takes all four balls to accomplish the same task as the two originals. Having four of these bouncing around in the dryer creates quite a racket, so they're probably not great in apartments or condos if you don't want to irritate the neighbors. Also, you'll find yourself going back to the dryer to return one or two of these since they tend to get lost in the laundry and only reappear when you are folding your clothes.

When we purchased our new washer and dryer I asked the salesman why the moisture detection on our previous dryer stopped working and he explained that the dryer sheets that I had been using have a wax on them that, over time, builds up on the moisture detection bar inside of the dryer and suggested purchasing dryer balls. I was concerned that they would not do anything to resolve the static cling that sometimes occurs during the drying cycle, let me assure you, these dryer balls have far exceeded my expectations. No static cling and my clothes do seem to dry faster and smell and feel just as nice if not better that they did when dryer sheets were used.
They are rubber balls so, you will hear them tumbling around in your dryer but my laundry room is outside so it doesn't bother me at all.

We got these because we wanted something that would last. We had concerns about the wool ones we had seen. So, we got these. They make the dryer extremely loud, something we didn't expect. They're also small enough to get stuck in sleeves, so we often had one missing until several days later. The last straw was when I opened the dryer a few weeks ago and noticed the inside had a distinctive blue tinge. I was not able to get it out. I can't say if that built up over time, it was just one bad load that did it, or these were just done (it had been at least four months of use), but needless to say we tossed them immediately and bought a set of six wool ones. We love the wool ones.

Love these dryer balls! They really do help dry the laundry and keep it from getting wrinkled. Especially in smaller loads. If I am ever washing anything that I am concerned might catch on the spiky knobs on the balls, I will just put the balls into socks. Problem solved and they still work beautifully. Very please with this purchase.

These balls help keep stuff in the dryer separate and softens some... I still use dryer sheets, but maybe fewer of them. I've used these for years... I find they last about 2 years before needing to be replaced. I always update my reviews if useful info comes to light.

We had static cling BAD. We tried sprays, putting safety pins in the clothes, high priced fabric softeners, tennis balls, you name it. Then I searched for remedies online and there were a bazillion other things people were recommending. I'm a dude......I ain't doin' all that. So, while shopping at a generic discount store here in Chicago we came across a 2-pack of dryer balls that looked just like these, in the same netted wrapping. There was no label on them and they were $.99. We bought them, tossed them in the dryer along with one generic dryer sheet from the Dollar Tree......and.....*POOF*, bye-bye static cling. Not even a hint of it. The balls we got were hard and did not have a hole in them, but they soften in the dryer. I don't know if these are the same brand, but the ones we bought work like a charm. They also make the clothes nice and fluffy.
*Update*
I was wrong, there was a name on the ones we bought. They were this exact brand, but a 2-pack. Good product, gets the job done.
