I decided to do a test of Griot's Garage Brilliant Finish Car Wash compared with Meguiar's G7164 Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner - 64 oz.. I tried to repeat the same procedure in each case. Each says to use 1 oz of the car wash liquid to one gallon of water. For each one I used a tablespoon to measure the car wash, placed it into my car wash bucket, then added the same amount of hot water from the faucet. Each produced about the same amount of suds. The results are in my last paragraph if you want to skip ahead.

The Griot's Garage container states: Brilliant Finish Car Wash is made from premium ingredients to ensure you maintain paint care perfection, bucket after bucket. Its thick, concentrated formula makes tons of suds, produces a streak-free finish, is pH balanced (which prevents wax stripping), safe on all exterior finishes, and is biodegradable.

The Meguiar's Gold Class container states: Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo and Conditioner is a rich and luxurious product designed to both wash and condition paint in one easy step. The premium formula gently foams away {when I recorded this with Dragon Naturally Speaking v13, it thought I said "bombs away"} tough dirt, road grime and contaminants without compromising wax protection. Ultrarich paint conditioners clear away debris to reveal color and clarity, leaving paint looking radiant. The Gold Class Collection blends the finest conditioners and premium ingredients to deliver exceptional results. The detergent is biodegradable.

I washed one side of my car with the Griot's and the other side with Meguiar's. The end result was that it was pretty much a toss up.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
UPDATED: After using Griot's Car Wash and having the cars out for two weeks, maybe three, under all the pollen, I have updated my review to give it five stars. This stuff is Great.

While I enjoy taking care of my car, over the years, I haven't enjoyed washing my car like I have in the past. Part of the problem seems to be with the car wash solutions I have been using. For a while I used the "Mr. Clean" dispenser with it's activated carbon filter that was supposed to do away with water spots, but I found, even when I hooked-up an activated carbon inline RV filter, I still had the water spots. Another issue with that product was that the solution was so strong, I had to wax my car more often because it stripped my wax finish off the car.

For several years, there was a Turtle Wax product that seemed to do a good job, but they no longer sell it, and the last type of car wash, one that's "blue" in color, doesn't seem to work very good. So, when I got a chance to try Griot's Garage 10866 Brilliant Finish Car Wash, I jumped at the chance.

The first thing one notices about Griot's Car Wash is just how thick it is. In reviewing the instructions for its use, it is suggested one uses the optimal type of cleaning cloth, and to follow-up your car wash, wiping it down with a chamois, and, then, waxing your car with Griot's Car Wax. Quite frankly, to me, they seemed to be wanting you to clean your car in a manner that, even if you used any other car wash product, you would get a good cleaning, So, I just used the double-sided hand mitts (one side ws mop-like and the other side had a meshed surface that helped getting dried crud off your car's surface), and washed both of our cars, one is silver and one is red, like I normally do.

Not a bad car wash, but it doesn't compare to the standard Griot's wash.

If you wash your vehicle frequently, it's OK. It has a pleasant odor and decent lubricity. If you wash less frequently, or if you are in an environment where there's sap, dust, or other materials that settle on or cling to vehicle surface, the standard Griot's cleans better.

This is less expensive though. At today's price, it's $0.20/oz. vs. $0.56/oz of the regular 16 oz. Griot's. (Or $0.30/oz. for the gallon)

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Most folks don't really know how to wash their cars. They either think they run it through some automated thing at the local gas station or they ull out the Dawn dishwashing suds and wash it in the driveway. The first is just completely wrong. Unless you're washing an old beater you don't really care about, letting those scrubbers scratch your expensive paint is bad news. Sure, you might look clean, but the cost is the life of your paint.
The second one is correct in approach (doing it yourself) but the wrong tools. Using Dawn or any other dish product will strip any wax from your paint, leaving it exposed to damage.
So first, use the right tools: a clean sponge or cloth and a proper car wash fluid. Griot's is a GREAT choice. You can spend more. Like anything these days, you can spend ten times as much to get an extra 1% of performance. But you don't need to. Car show guys use Griot's. Pros use it. I use it.
Great product that PRESERVES your wax and shine and paint. There are times to get rid of the wax and Dawn works great but those times are once a year or so. The rest of the 52 washes your car will endure should be with something that will baby the finish - like Griot's. Good stuff!
