Flavor Name: Raspberry Rose
I just DO NOT get the hype over this product. I picked up the raspberry-rose scent at my CVS for $4 (fairly average lip balm price for CA). I don't mind the packaging, but I know some people don't like pots; in fact, I'm extremely fond of CD creme de rose lip balm, which also comes in a pot. The downside is CdR is very pricy($30), and I was hoping this would be a dupe, but it really didn't do it for me. The smell is nice, but it didn't do anything for my lips. Just sat on top, feeling greasy, and quickly dissipates away. If you want to try something better from Nivea in the lip department, a kiss of milk and honey is one of my favorite drugstore lip balms. I'd highly recommend that over this any day! And if you want something similar, but better than this, and are willing to fork over some extra money, creme de rose is amazing.

Flavor Name: Caramel Cream
I love Nivea's line of lip products (like their A Kiss of Moisture Essential Lip Care) and was excited to try this new lip butter. I've found Nivea's lip products to be wonderful for the most part so my expectations were pretty high. Unfortunately this product fell short in a few areas:

Pros:

Scent: The caramel vanilla scent of this product is light and pleasant, not overly sweet like many caramel scented products tend to be.

Feel: The lip butter is soft and goes on smoothly. In this area the product is exactly what I've come to expect from the Nivea brand. It feels great on my lips and is a nice consistency once applied.

Cons:

Color: This product is off-white/cream in color and unfortunately tints my lips with this hue. When wearing over a lip stain this isn't a huge deal but on my natural lips it leaves a tint that is not very attractive, in my opinion.

Not long lasting: I find this product requires frequent reapplication. The product is also pretty soft in the tin (not as packed as some other lip products that come in a tin or jar) so each application seems to require a fair amount of product.

Overall it's an okay product but for the price I probably wouldn't buy it again.

Flavor Name: Vanilla and Macadamia
I really enjoy this lip butter, BUT I noticed that the quality is inconsistent depending on the flavor, many people who brought the raspberry one tend to dislike the product, I have the vanilla & macadamia which is a high quality one:

-Origin: It's made in Belgium, so no animal testing, GREAT!
-Smell: I prefer non scented, but it was not available at my local drug store.
-It's has lots of good ingredients: Patrolatum & polyglyceryl, glycerin are all moisturizing agents, Shea, castor seed and sweet almond oil, are moisturizing oil; BUT it has BHT, which has double duty: it's a synthetic antioxidant that keeps the product fresh, also a good skin emollient, but if you eat it (some people like to eat their lip balm) in large dose, it can be carcinogenic. So DON"T EAT IT. Otherwise it is a great product.
-I found myself applying lip balm less often after using this, it layers well with lipstick because it's not too glossy nor slippery.

Overall I think this is a great lip balm (again, don't eat it) with great value performance.

This has probably been said numerous times by now but I agree with some of the other reviewers: I don't get all the rave 5 star reviews. To me, this is more like a lip gloss. Something to put on over your lipstick to give a bit of shine. It's not very moisturizing. It does kind of 'sit' on top of your lips. This is not a lip balm type product that's meant for chapped or dry lips. I was underwhelmed.

This variety; Caramel Cream Kiss, does smell really good though. And not that you should eat it obviously but it does have a very nice flavor. So, 3 stars for the flavor and scent and overall usage. To me, this a beauty product, it's not really meant for 'lip care'. So, if you keep that in mind and buy it with the intent to use it as a gloss you'll probably enjoy it.

First, the tin in which it comes was nearly IMPOSSIBLE for me to open. It took me considerable time working with scissors, then a razor knife, to remove the material covering the area where the lid and bottom fit together. I felt relieved that I didn't CUT A GASH IN MY HAND or worse in accomplishing this.

Then, ALL THIS FOR WHAT? What I consider a mediocre lip gloss. I didn't find it superior in any way to dollar store brands, and in fact, I consider it less sanitary, because most of those come in a tube which one squeezes to apply on one's lips, OR in a stick like a lipstick, that one rolls on one's lips.

THIS product requires that either one use one's likely less than sterile finger to apply the product. In the process of doing that, one also contaminates the rest of the container, obviously. The only alternative I see is to keep a container of cotton swabs or similar with the lip balm.

NEVER AGAIN!

This is a nice product but for the price there isn't enough of it .AND. it contains BHT.

What I like is the scent and the way it softens my lips. The balm goes on smoothly and has a nice consistency.

What I dislike is that it goes quickly. Also... BHT. BHT is banned in the US for baby foods. It's also banned in the UK. Obviously I'm not going to take a chance with my kids, so I won't be buying more unless Nivea changes their formulation.
