This was definitely a different experience for me. For all of my graphic design I never ventured into an actual video editing software. I use a generous portion of the adobe suite on my free time but the idea of making a movie never really occurred to me until Nick asked me one day if I would be willing to give one a shot. I figured why not? New experiences are always something to be sought after.

Fascut comes from Magix which specializes in a variety of different video editing softwares and is designed for quick and easy video editing from those into extreme sports. As the most extreme thing that I do is play video games and leave the house to go to work, I had other ideas in mind. Using Fraps (which Robert reviewed) for capturing video, I sought out a subject matter that wasn’t hard to find being in the middle of several reviews involving a PC.

Now while I do have a mic attached to a decent headset (that I may or may not have borrowed from my brother… don’t know if he noticed that it’s not there anymore… shhhhhh) I instead decided to present a bit more of a challenge and add the ability to edit the video and the audio separately. Using a high grade voice recorder that can be inserted through its own usb plug, I set out to try to create my first Let’s Play. Needless to say those require a lot of work both in how you record as well as how much editing can be required.

Utilizing a simple and intuitive interface users can quickly start or open up a project and, without too much thinking, get started on putting their video together. Options are readily available to insert video and audio tracks on their own separate timelines allowing to move them around as required to gain the desired effect.Read more ›

I used it to create a few movies. While editing there is a lot of lag and playback is just not smooth. My PC has 8 gb of ram,gtx 960 4gb, 8gb memory, and a 8 core amd 8350 processor. There is absolutely no way it should be running choppy. I had to do a few tricks to make it run decently, but I have to constantly do them which is annoying. Maybe it's because I'm importing videos from a portable hard drive? I do it through usb 3.0 so idk. Overall, you get what you pay for. Just your basic video editing software. Just like the gopro studio software, but with more features.

It would be a 5 star product except for one thing, even with the full program at the end of your fifnished video there is what amounts to an advertisement.

Big bold letters stating "Made with MAGIX FASTCUT" ON A BLACK BACKGROUND DISPLAYS PROMINENTLY.

I hate that and don't use it because of that.

I usually add the programs etc, in my credits, in the style of credits I want, but to be forced to, in an expensive program, that is too much.
