In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Excellent front foot support and foot perspiration ventilation

Asics running shoes are great and I have been using them for years. However, only starting last year Asics finally had a 'light' tennis shoe model and this Asics Speed 2 model is the second generation of that shoe.

If you are looking a light shoe on your foot, great air ventilation for your foot to not get overheated with perspiration, great rubber sole support on hard courts then I would recommend you buy this shoe.

Shoe size is correct and not oversized or undersized. I bought the same shoe size that I buy in shoe size in other brands of footwear that are non-tennis shoes (work boots, Addidas asketball shoes, Asics running shoes)

This is my second pair

The Speed 2s are considered "game day" shoes. They are lightweight, fast, breath extremely well, and provide great support. The flip side of this is that they don't have an abundance of cushioning, and they won't last as long as some of the more beefy shoes.

For my purposes, though, they are my everything shoe. I run fast and change direction really hard, but I never find them hard on my feet (perhaps because I'm light for my height). During peak season, I average around 6-7 hours per week on court. My first pair is still going, but it looks like it will be pretty much worn through by 6 months.

Looks are subjective, but I consider this black/yellow/red combo to be one of the less over-the-top color combinations you can get for the Speed 2. If you agree, get it while you can, because I don't believe they're making it anymore.

Changed my perspective on playing tennis

I had some very safe and boat anchor-y tennis shoes. But when I changed to these, their fit, their weight, and their safety were all so impressive that I now look forward to lengthy battles with my opponents. Just a wonderfully designed shoe and an improvement over the original incarnation of the same shoe. I can't imagine how much better these could get in a third iteration because these changed my perspective on playing tennis and tennis shoes.

Light but Solid

I need a mesh top or, as with leather, my uppers form blisters. The Speed 2 does not lose rubber, as I am a "serving toe-dragger" and, in the past, have required shoe-gooing my heels every night. Best tennis shoe ever!

Perfect shoes for flat feet

Shoes arrived well before estimated shipping arrival. They are awesome to look at. Showed up for a practice with my 4.5 team the next day to find 2 other guys had the same shoes. Both guys said they loved the shoes and after the first 3 hours of playing, I do too. Super comfortable for my flat feet, great cushioning. I am staying with ASICS for all my shoes from now on.

The best Tennis shoes I own.

Helps me be fast on my feet while providing cushioning for my feet and knees. They look great too. Asics tend to run a bit large. I wear 9.5 in most brands but 9 in Asics. They are take wear well. My Prince tennis shoes have more padding but are a lot more bulky.

Really Comfortable

Incredible tennis shoe and by far the best I ever had. I've used it for two tennis sessions so far and in the first session I had it tied too tight at first. I loosened it up and it was fine after. I thought I had narrow feet but if these were any more narrow I might have had issues. I tried my old tennis shoes for a session after using these and I couldn't believe I was wearing those things. It made me really appreciate the cushioning of these Asics. I can move around fast and quick very comfortably. I get the feeling these will wear out pretty quick and if so I will update this review.
