In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness.     These seem more narrow than the ASICS running shoes I've had (at least 3 pair in the past few years have all fit perfectly out of the box). They're a little uncomfortable now as a result, but they seem a good enough fit that I expect they'll be more comfortable (sufficiently wide) once they're broken-in. This may take a while since they're leather, which is what I want for daily casual wear. They look great and give good support.

    I bought these shoes as training shoes for jump rope workouts and they are great for that purpose. The shoes are comfortable, good looking and the bottom of the sole is flat and non-marking which is exactly what I was looking for. These shoes were substantially less that other cross training shoes but they are still high quality shoes and should last for a long time. I wouldn't want to do much running in these as that's not what they are designed for but there is still a good amount of cushion. The fit is on par with other Asics brand shoes that I've had. I'd recommend these as a great pair of training shoes.

    Nice shoe. A bit lower cut than I'm used to which creates some slippage in the heel. I used the last, lower lacing hole and it helped a bit. Shoes run a tad big. I ordered an 11 but these fit more like an 11.5, puffy socks and all. Still, all around a good, solid shoe for the price I paid.
