The decorative front pieces are made out of cardboard. The "stainless steel" is actually foiled cardboard. Mine arrived with the edges bent so I could not even put the decorative pieces onto the unit. I thought about cutting out new pieces, but the pattern is a little bit tricky. Additionally, the bright white edges show anyway -- an ivory color would be nicer. The unit is very big about 2.5 times the size of an ordinary outlet. It is also too heavy for an outlet: when I pull on the cord it falls out of the socket unless I am very careful. The retractor button works well, but if I don't hang onto the cord it chips the paint off of my wall. This definitely does not work for an active family that will be plugging and unplugging devices. This is a very good idea, just poor quality and it needs a little more engineering.

I really like this product. Especially the retracting extension cord. Perfect for my kitchen with limited countertop and outlet space. It's a little bit wobbly when I'm trying to get the three pronged cords out of one of the sockets but overall I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

So far so good. I think this is a wonderful product. It has been used by myself and grandkids. We plug our smart phones into it and sit on the sofa while we do our thing and the phone stays fully charged. Great invention, maybe could use one with a couple more feet of extension cord.

Very cool concept. I bought two and we love the built in extension cord! The major drawback is that it is not quite balanced correctly and tends to fall out of some receptacles. Fix that and this is a five star product.
