The boots look good and fit well, but are not warm.
Traction was good to because there was ice all around with the freezing rain and I did not slip around a bunch.
I was so pleased I bought a second pair, these with only 200g of the thinsulate for "not so cold days".

I wish I could give this boot a better rating but with the narrow width, and the fact that the company doesn't make the boot in a wide width, I just can't. I normally wear a size 10-1/2 wide or size 11 wide (depending on the manufacturer). Overall, the boot seems to be well-made, but I could barely get my foot into it with a thin dress sock on, and definitely couldn't get my foot in with a normal athletic sock or boot sock on. Even with the thin dress sock on, I couldn't wear the boot for more than a few minutes - there was just too much pressure from the side of the boot, even with the boot strings tied loosely. Not everyone has a skinny/narrow foot, and not making this boot available in a larger variety of widths/sizes is typical of Columbia, unfortunately to their detriment. cannot recommend this boot.

I recently bought a pair of these boots for my son for a November hunting trip in Idaho. The first day out after less than an hour his feet were cold. He was wearing a fairly heavy Merino wool sock. The temps were about 40 degrees and we were not in snow! He switched to his older less insulated boots and his feet were fine. I'd like to meet the Columbia employee who has worn these boots at -65! The temperature rating is total marketing hype! The boots look good and fit well, but are not warm. When you inspect the boots closely you see that the area where the rubber rand comes around is very thin. There is decent insulation in the tongue, but the toe and foot box area are very compressed. These boots might be fine for an urban user or for outdoor use during Sept. or early Oct in the mountain states, but your feet would freeze anytime after November if you spend any time outside. I am most upset with the false advertising for the temperature rating on these boots, it is so completely exaggerated! I would not recommend these boots to anyone who spends time outdoors during the winter, particularly for activities where you are not VERY active!

Very light, very strong, very warm, very stable boot. Waterproof but not sweaty. They don't feel bulky, the way most winter boots do. They give me the sense of greater stability and protection on broken ground. Hard to drive in, at least the first year - maybe the ankle will eventually loosen up.

At first look I thought this boot had a skinny tread. Skinny tread means less traction. I was wrong, it has a very wide tread. A wide tread also means that it is easier to keep your balance, especially on ice. I tested this boot at 26F with a wind chill that brought it down to 1F in about 3 inches of snow. It was great my feet were warm and the area around the ankle was stiff as a board (you want this so you wont twist your ankle). I had freezing ran also and my feet stayed dry. Traction was good to because there was ice all around with the freezing rain and I did not slip around a bunch.
I bought these boots to replace an old pair that I had for about 15 years. I didn't think anything could match them as they were rated to keep your feet warm at -40F and soaking wet (this actually saved my right foot once). I even shoveled a driveway with at least a 10 degree grade with ice all over it with little trouble. I haven't fully tested them at this point, but I think these are close/similar replacement for the old boots that now have a hole worn in them.

The only reason i gave it 4 stars is because of the way the boots fit. They were to narrow and the instep of the boot was to low. The boots are very very light and the quality and craftsmanship seem good but that's just going off the looks of the boot. I couldn't wear them because they didn't fit me so i cant give anymore information.

If you wear thick socks get at least a half size larger. You will need some thermal insoles too. The thin foam ones that come with these dont cut it. These boots are ok for trips to the store or to and from the car, but not for all day working outside. Warm down to about 20 F.

I don't know how helpful this review will be, as all I've done is try these boots on and wear them around the house. I have not yet tested them in wintry conditions (I bought them to wear when I shovel and use the snow blower this winter)—I will make an effort to come back and update my review once they have seen some action.

What I can say now is that I found these boots to be true to size. They come up pretty high, so there is definitely good ankle support, but also some stiffness when walking. They are also lightweight for how large they are, which I think will be a plus for sustained outdoor activity. One feature I liked right away was the extra-large finger-loop on the top back of the boot—it makes it very easy to get a good grip when pulling the boots on and off. If you're interested in the aesthetics, they look rugged and pretty modern, but don't have much flash with the dark gray and black color scheme.

I wear a 12 in most regular shoes. I got these in a 13 and they are comfortable with two pairs of socks, and still comfortably wearable with one pair. Plenty of room width wise. They are stiff, but I haven't had a pair of good boots that weren't at first.
