I bought this set because I already love Knitter's Pride Dreamz interchangeable needles and I just wanted to try a couple different styles to see if I liked their other lines as well. I briefly used the Cubix and found that the square shape was a little awkward for me. It seemed like a good idea at the time (like holding a pencil?) but in practice I felt like I was just using a novelty. The needle felt smaller in my hand than I expected, but it really is the correct size.. I am not sure if I like it enough to use it regularly, but I will give it another try someday. I have used the nickel plated (platina) a bit more and I find that I really enjoy it. Initially, I expected it to be a similar experience to when I used boye needlemaster, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Platina is a little heavier, but not much. The cords are, of course, very flexible. Stitches do slide a bit, but I expect that from a metal needle. The Dreamz is just like the other Dreamz needles I already had, and I love them and use them all the time. If I were to buy from any of the 3 lines included in this package, I'd probably order more Dreamz or Platina. Jury's out on the Cubix.

I love the idea of putting one of each type of needle for people to try and see which one they like best. I just wish the quality of the needles were better. I have LOTS of problems with the needles (although most of them are minor issues that others may not worry about). The worst problem I had was that one of the needles did not attach correctly to the cord. I contacted the supplier and they sent me a new one without a problem but when I bought the other set I had the same exact problem with one of those needles as well (again the supplier sent a new one with no problems). Since it happened twice I think it may be a common problem to watch out for. The second issue I had was one of the cables had a burr on it and it kept catching on my yarn while I was knitting which was very frustrating. That was easily fixed with a nail file though. I also noticed that as I used the needles the numbers wore off so after just one project I no longer knew what needle size I was using. This is also not a huge problem if you have a needle gauge but it is a little annoying. The final problem I had was with the cubics tips themselves. I really liked the metal tips but after I finished using them I took them off the cord and tried to put them on another cord to start a new project and I bent them! With one hand I was able to bend and rebend the metal tips. That was a bit concerning for me. If they are so easily bent then what might happen if I put them in a bag while I am traveling? They could easily get broken or bent beyond repair. I cannot afford to buy needles that are so fragile that I am scared to even use them! I am very disappointed by the quality of these needles and will be looking at other brands to see if I can find something better.

I wanted to see what the fuss was about with cubics and specifically wooden ones. This set let me do that without spending a lot, and gave me a couple other needles to try out at the same time. Now I want the wood cubics set. Sigh. Well, I'm glad I added these needles to my collection anyway. Seems they're compatible with the Deborah Norville's I already have. I'm working a project with them and could put the new cubics needles right on the cable I was using so I could try them without having to remove my cable. I like that too. Looking forward to adding more of these needles to my collection.

I purchased both sets of the Comby samplers so I could try Knitter's Pride needles. I thought that I would easily prefer one type over the others but, as it turns out, I really like all of the various styles.

I have been knitting for about ten years now - I taught myself after watching the explosion of knitting shows that hit PBS and other cable channels a few years ago. I started using circular needles only a couple of years ago and bought some well-known brands of interchangeable sets and was very disappointed. I've had everything from cables breaking to yarn snags at the connections. I thought I would have to go with buying specific needles in specific sizes and lengths until I purchased these sampler sets.

I plan on acquiring a couple of the larger, specific style sets as budget allows. In the meantime, I am really enjoying the two sets that I bought and am having fun with making hats and other items with my circular needles.

I liked having the chance to try different types of Knitter's Pride needles before committing to an expensive set. I found the needle sizes and included cables gave me a good chance to try a variety of projects and get a feel for what I prefer. I did not have problems with tips coming unscrewed from cables as I did with my old NeedleMaster set, and I found the Knitter's Pride cables to be much more flexible & easy to work with. If you don't have someone you can borrow from to try before you buy, this is a good option.
