I just tested this sub out and bought it immediately. I haven't had it for a long time so i can't say much about how durable it is.... WOW this had more punch than JBLs and Mackies that were around the $1000 range. Loving it so far. The low pass cutoff is very key is well so you can fine tune the sound with your mains.

I'm not a DJ. Rather, I have a large basement fun room used for music playback and jamming with friends. A few years ago I chanced on a pair of Behringer B215Ds (2-way powered speakers) and have been very pleased, but wasn't getting the low end kick I expected from their 15" woofers.

Enter the B1800HP. First, this subwoofer is HEAVY at 120 pounds. It has good handles, but save your back and use two people or a two wheeler to carry these around. Luckily I wont be moving it.

There are a few ways to hook this up, but in my case I put the sub between my mixer and the main speakers. The B1800HP is set up for stereo with dual inputs and outputs, so you can get by with a single sub. For outputs, you have a choice of straight-through or 100Hz high-pass-filter. I used the filtered output so my main speakers no longer have to deal with <100Hz material. It's a great option and takes stress off the mains.

In additional to the level control there is a +10dB boost switch and parametric tone knob to adjust where you want boost to occur. For my basement its overkill so I have it turned off. That means I can use the sub in 'simple' mode and not have to find the perfect boost frequency. Overall there is a very good set of connections and controls in back.

Once they were hooked up I had to tweak the subwoofer level to match them with the main speakers. I found I could crank the sub up higher while leaving the mains not so loud, which lets me feel big bass kicks without bleeding any eardrums. This sub can crush your chest if you want it to...awesome. In the end I set it for good all-around balance with the volume level at about 25%. The result is an awesome quality of sound I didn't have before, wonderful lows that changed from just hearing to feeling.Read more ›

Sub is great for the price. Wished I would have paid a little more money for the JBL PRX718XLF, as my uncle has one and it sounds better imo.
