This is my first step into IoT world after closely following the CES 2015 and I have to be real honest on my own doubts about the maturity of these products. I was really lucky to be able get LIGHTIFY Gateway and LED Flexible Strip from Amazon even though it is in pre-order phase.

The Gateway and Mobile App seamlessly work and App guides the complete setup process to get started with Gateway setup to registration and finally to get the remote lights setup.

I should say the dial controller in Lightify App is the coolest feature that has an adjustable color temperature to match a scene or mood and also has tunable white functionality. I have setup this with a window display and best part I can schedule exactly when I want then to light up.

As this OSRAM uses the ZigBee Home Automation standard, which means that I'm looking forward to integrate many other products in the market and very excited.

First impressions of the lights are very good. Much brighter than I expected and connecting the strands is super easy. I actually have two 14ft strands connected for a total of 28ft. This is the maximum you can have connected to one power source. They also work perfectly with Smartthings now that support for the lights has been added. Pairing them was a little harder than I would have liked but after resetting the lights they paired quickly. I have full control over the lights and have them set to come on automatically at 7pm and turn off at 2am. With motion sensors from Smartthings I can set them to come on and off when motion is picked up, control the brightness and color of the lights, and set up other rules for them. Once I have them set up completely and running for a while I will update this review.

If been using the Lightify Wireless Gateway for about 3 months.

I purchased this after trying to get my porch coach lights to work on a timer. I tried dusk/dawn senors, but I could never get them to work. After coming home to a dark porch (or leaving out in the morning to find my porch lights still on) one too many times, I needed to find something that would work.

I saw this Gateway in my local hardware store and went home to research it online. I found it was one of the cheaper gateways because it only works with bulbs (Note: It looks like now it works with outlets and switches too). I also saw that it might be able to be used with the cheaper GE Link Led bulbs. So I tried it, and it worked!! Setup was super easy and I was up and running in about 5 mins.

I was having issues with the timing (the lights not going off correctly in the morning), but the latest software update (v1.4) fixed that issue and the bulbs go on and off at the times I set in the app (I've use both the Android and the Apple app. Both are free and essentially work the same). I even set them to dim when the come on to save a little bit of energy and not light up my whole neighborhood.

Now my only issue is, occasionally I turn off the physical light switch by accident and when I turning back on, the comes on full power until I reset it with the app or it hit its scheduled time and changes to the correct setting.... but that issue is completely on me, because its working as designed.

While I don't have it setup yet, read in the manual, it also works with Nest.

Overall, it's a great solution for my problem of setting up a pair of lights on a timer. Since I can add up to 50 bulbs, I can't wait to add more lights around the house.

Pretty cool product. I use it everyday and like the ambiance it sets. I installed these behind my TV and looks great. The setup was a little tricky and I need Osram support to help sort things. The app still isn't that great and I wish there was a strobe mode but maybe that will come in the future.

A little piece of advice while setting up, HAVE EVERYTHING PLUGGED WHEN SYNCING TO THE PORT, PHONE, AND LIGHTS. If the lights aren't plugged in, the whole setup will get messed up and you will need Osram to reset your profile.

These lights are connected to my SmartThings v2 hub. Adding them to my network was extremely simple, just put your hub into inclusion mode then plug in the lights. They joined on the first attempt, and my hub knew exactly what they were. I was able to setup a few SmartApps to get some use out of these lights. The overall design is nice, and they look built to last. The only issues I have with this are: no easy way to mount unless you use the sticky back, and no extensions (to place between the light strips if needed). Neither really detract from this light, and can easily be worked around.

Pros: inexpensive, easy to setup, looks great
Cons: only mounting method is the double sided tape on the back, no extensions to go between light strips

A little pricey, but I like the combo of RGB and White. I wish it would allow us to turn on white at the same time as choosing an RGB color, since it uses different LEDs. Only 800 lumens, so could/should be brighter, and doesn't seem to dim as low as it should. Really like the clear soft flexible plastic over the whole strip, so there is less worry of damage over time. The strips should be longer, as just two feet is a bit short, or make them cut to fit and still be connectable as competitors do. The strips fit together very well. You have to buy a separate package for a variety of extensions, where it would seem more practical to buy just what you need. If you need one extension, you have to buy a box with 10 other connectors that you would never use.

The worst part of these is the software. I can only speak to the Android version, but it freezes a lot. In fact, it freezes about every time you use it. The "color wheel" would be better served with separate sliders for R, G, B, and white, as well as sliders for dimming and white temp. Often, when you go to change one of these, the value will jump all over the wheel, since the stop and start position is next to each other. Use SLIDERS, not a wheel!!! Or at least give the user a choice. There is a schedule setup in the software, which even with my 20+ computer certifications I can not figure out. You can setup a schedule, select devices, but you can't tell it what you want it to do on that schedule. It's pretty bizarre. I'm hoping Wink adds support soon (they said it is coming) to get away from the poor Osram app.
