I own the 900B from last year and I thought Sony did a nice job with upscaling and color reproduction. The black level on the 900B was good but not great. I just received the 940C and oh what a difference a year makes. The colors are rich, the upscaling is superb, and the blacks are deep and inky. Being a FALD display surely makes the difference. I watched Gravity to really test the blacks and the picture just loses itself into the frame in a dark room. Space looks like ..well..Space. It's pricey I get it. But, I believe, if your going to spend alot, you should get your money's worth. And you do!!

The TV has 2 different positions for those outside mounted stands. They can also go in the center so yes it will fit on your TV stand. It took me way too long to figure that out when researching this TV. If I hadn't found that out I would not have bought this TV.
It is nearly everything I hoped it would be. The only problem I have had so far is that when running Netflix from the TV app it does not send out optical audio. I imagine this could be a shortcoming of the Netflix app and could be fixed in a software update.
The Android TV seems to work fine for me. Maybe they fixed it in an update but I saw a lot of complaints.
They make a big deal about that extra black black thing where it can darken portions of the screen. Can it really make that big of a difference you ask? I'm assuming you're asking since you're looking at dropping a lot of money on this TV. I asked when I was looking but didn't really see a good comparison. Check out the picture I attached. This is the new XBR on the left and my girlfriend's Sony (recent model, 55" 1080p) on the right. Both are using the default picture settings in a fairly dark room. Yeah, it's awesome.
You can't go wrong with this TV unless you can't afford it.
Get the extended warranty, it's very reasonable from Amazon. I would have bought this from Best Buy except that they wanted $1,100 for their Geek Squad extended warranty and Amazon charged about $300.
The Amazon delivery was surprisingly good. I expected it to land on the doorstep. Nope, the delivery company emailed and called ahead to schedule the delivery and a 2-man team showed up and assembled it and took the trash away. Amazon should put their delivery service description in the listing for the TV. I didn't know that this type of delivery was included.

4k material is displayed better on this tv then any other tv market in the world right now.

This is the brightess tv (per nit) then anything out there.

This tv has the best colors and vibrancy than anything i have ever seen.
Android os is buggy but is also wonderful and easy to use, when its working properly.
the big remote occasionally stops working but it comes with a touch pad remote also, so i go to that when it stops working.
the tv occasionally crashes and i have to unplug and restart. this should be fixed with updates probably.

the sound is fantastic, best speaker system of any tv on the market. for those who dont want a surround sound system, this is great.
start up is fast.

I docked 1 star cause unfortunately watching a lot of 720p,1080i satellite/cable broadcast, the tv is so big it has a hard time creating a good picture out of these signals. i see a lot of artifacts due to the image being so magnified to 75" that it makes for a worse pq than a 65" or smaller. since i watch alot of that stuff i will probably return this.

However if blurays and 4k stuff is ur main use, this is the best tv there is. nothing compares. the brightness and color pop cannot be stated enough. i have never seen a tv display such vibrant colors and have such amazing brightness in my life. It was truly something amazing.

the 940c is the bright one on the right.

I've owned premium TVs- from pioneer kuros, Panasonic plasma vieras to Sharp Elites. This TV is a class above them all- 3D bluray is a dream!! I don't have to convince you. My girlfriend who knows NOTHING about Tvs PQ, said, "wow the blacks in the picture just disappears into the black bezels and even makes an already big TV look way bigger". Enough said!!

I purchased this bad boy about 2 weeks ago (local retailer). This is replacing a Sony 70x850b from last year, which was a great mid-level 4K set. However it struggled in dark room viewing, where it struggled to achieve deep blacks. This set had replaced a Panasonic 65" VT60 that was just a bit too small for our media room. Up until 2 weeks ago, the VT60 was the best TV I ever owned/seen. But it was a plasma, so inherently the deep black levels and great native contrast offered the best 'pop' on screen.
The x940c is on a different level. The amount of contrast on this thing is unreal. Deep, deep blacks and retina-burning brights give the picture so much pop, that it's like looking outside your front window. The full array local dimming works wonders here, and Sony has it dialed in perfect. This, in combination with the rich triliminous colors and 4K resolution, displays images that are utterly lifelike. Like all tvs, the better the source the better the lifelike effect. Conversely though, some cable channels are not so pretty since this tv can really show off the flaws (even with the X1 processor). But blurays and 4K content looks absolutely amazing. And gaming? PS4 is ridiculous on this thing. Seriously, you'll never want to leave your couch.
So it's expensive (I got mine on sale for Black Friday), and it's really heavy (125 lbs), and I'll never use the built in speakers (looks bad-ass though). But it puts out the most amazingly clear, detailed, bright picture I have ever seen from a television. Absolutely recommended!
