I'm posting this because I just went through the hell of trying to replace my old laptop. There are so many choices now, that this was a much hard decision that in the past. Hopefully I can save somebody some of the trouble I've been going through.

I just got one of these to replace a 4 year old Samsung Series 9 (first gen mobile i5, 4 GB RAM and 128 GB SSD). I've only had the YogaPro3 for a couple days so this is just a first impression. Overall, my 1st impression is this is an outstanding computer. It certainly is better than the old series 9 in every respect; faster, lighter, better screen, etc.. I'm kind of shocked I like it so much, given all the grousing on the internet about the new Intel Core M processor. I note mine is a 5Y71 and not a 5Y70. The thing is snappy and punchy. I have no problems with speed or wireless connections. Although there is some bloatware I will eventually erase, overall the Lenovo software ties the 4 modes of the machine together really well. You can be working on a word document in keyboard mode, then flip the lid 360 and work on it in tablet mode (say if you just want to mostly just read for proofing). Keyboard is nice to type on too.

Here's the thing tho: I have an ultra powerful desktop for my productivity work. I suspect people are unhappy with the YogaPro3 because they are trying to use it as their main computer. I don't have any expectations for this thing to, for example, run Matlab programs, or play high powered games, or do video editing or anything like that. These are chores for my desktop. However, if I need to go somewhere and take a computer with me, or need to just sit and read PDF files (I do a lot of that), then the YogaPro3 is perfect.

It absolutely pains me to give this machine three stars. I really, really wanted to like it. Let me start out with the good stuff.

The good:
Amazing engineering - the laptop is absolutely thin and beautiful. Feels great to hold. Looks amazing. It blows Apple's stuff out of the water. It really is a mind blower. Uber thin, ultra light...just awesome.
Beautiful high res screen - it's a really nice IPS panel. Sharp, crisp and colorful, with great contrast. Apple quality, retina like display.
Fast Wifi - downloads were lightning quick.
Fast SSD - top end stuff, and rightfully so, considering the price.

The BAD:
Keyboard - it's not arranged like a normal keyboard; the F1 keys aren't there and they've rearranged some keys. Kinda confusing.
Touchpad - I couldn't double tap for the Windows submenu. That absolutely stinks. I have a cheapy Acer that can do this. Why not this laptop? I do not like depressing the touchpad for the submenu. Sorry.
GPU performance - THIS WAS THE CLINCHER. For this kind of money, I would think I could run 1080p Youtube video's without a hitch, NOT THE CASE. My big test is the 1080p60 (60 frames per second) video of MarioKart 8. My cheap work Dell i3 can run the video perfectly via Chrome. This laptop couldn't. It was having a hard time alone with standard 1080p at full screen. CPU was pegged out at 100%. Inexcusable.

It's really unfortunate, I so wanted to like this device. For most folks, perhaps 80% of people, this laptop might be perfectly fine, as most people just use web, facebook, email and typing up a Word document, but for me, running full HD video (1080p) was critical. I think the GPU/CPU Intel Core M 5Y70 isn't beefy enough to run a 3200x1800 resolution screen.

I am posting this on Jan 11, 2016, after 40 days of trying to get Lenovo to do something - anything! - to repair my failed laptop. Here is a chronological outline of the problems I've had with the Yoga 3 Pro:

2015 FEB 21: I bought a Yoga 3 Pro and had repeated problems. My son is a expert programmer and CEO for a dot.com that gets 13 million new visitors per month. He Is an IT resource person for other famous Internet companies. He has helped me repeatedly with this laptop. He has concluded that the majority of my problems are due to the Yoga 3 Pro.

2015 DEC 3: Nine months after I bought it, my Yoga 3 Pro died completely. I am a professional speaker and presenter. In Nov-Dec 2015, Yoga 3 Pro caused problems in 2 presentations, and failed completely on 2 other presentations. This problem is also preventing me from doing my ongoing research and writing. When the laptop died, I immediately called Lenovo. My case was escalated.

I went to the Lenovo website to look up my Warranty dates. I purchased the laptop on Feb 21, 2015. But the Warranty Lookup tool on the Lenovo website shows that my expiry date is Jan 18, 2016, which falls short of my one-year Base Warranty by more than one month.

I also purchased a 3-year Onsite Warranty on Feb 26, 2015. But the Lookup Tool shows that the expiry date is Nov 19, 2017, which falls short of the proper 3-year expiry date by 3 months.

I emailed Lenovo Warranty on the website on Jan 7, 2016 to correct the problem. A guy named Diego got back to me with the corrected expiry dates within a few hours. Thank you, Diego!

2015 DEC 8: Lenovo sent me 2 new A/C Adapter blocks. But this did not fix the problem. My laptop is still dead.
