these sheets are great to laminate letter-sized documents - i use them to encase and protect maps of our small community, and they are used on a clipboard for walks around our neighborhood - quite helpful!

they are a little tricky to seal, however! take one out, lay it open and flat... insert the document, then close up to adhere the thin orange strip; re-open, remove the strip, then *slowly* peel away the instruction page from the bottom right corner

i did two sheets and both times had a couple creases... i imagine that these 'pouches' would seal much better on heavier weight paper stock... regular printer paper was iffy..

but they are useful - and no laminating machine needed!

Love the Black and Decker QuickShield Self-Adhesive laminating sheets. I have been wanting to laminate some of my artwork and use them for placemats. This is just perfect. The directions are easy to follow and I love the results. I will have plenty of uses for the remainng sheets. I also plan to make ID sheets for my dogs to attach to the crates in the car for when I travel. Excellent product!!

The Black and Decker Self-Laminating Sheets (5 to a pack, 9.3 x 0.1 x 11.8 inches) are theoretically practical, but unless you have the right touch, are difficult to use. They are thick and sturdy, but I found the instructions tricky to follow. You have to place your original just so, peel away a narrow adhesive strip, close the white liner side of the pouch, and then remove the white liner while pressing the adhesive side very slowly and carefully. Unfortunately, when I tried to do all this, I ended up with creases and bubbles instead of a smooth surface. If you are handy, can follow these instructions to the letter, and have some documents or photos that you want to laminate, the Black and Decker Self-Laminating Sheets may please you. However, if I want to preserve valuable photographs or papers, I will continue to take them to my local copy store to be professionally laminated.

The 8 mil sheets are thick, and when you put a document inside, it feels very sturdy. It is fairly easy to laminate a document or a photo. You put it inside the folder, remove the thin red strip and close the folder to make sure the document will not move, and then unfurl the top to cover your document. It adheres to the front of it and all around the document. I had to rub it all over to remove all the air bubbles, and removed all but one tiny one - I suspect there is a speck of dust or something like that that prevents the adhesive to take hold on the paper. The instructions are printed on each laminating folder, so there is no worry that you will lose them.

I was surprised to see these sold under the Black and Decker name, which I associated with tools. These are laminating sheets, no machine required. One thing I wondered about was could the sheets be cut down for smaller items, and the answer is yes. It seemed to work well for a wallet-size card, even better than for a page-size item because the full page can be tricky to smooth down.

Depending on how many pages (or pictures) you need to laminate, this could be expensive to do. But if you just need to laminate 2 or 3 items, this is a good solution, even if you wind up wasting a sheet while learning.

These laminating pouches work fine if you want something that is not laminated very well. I can imagine that some papers will need to be protected but can stand a few bubbles and creases. In other words, looks don't matter, but function does. In those cases, these will work well.

But if there is something you want to look nicely laminated, you will probably need to use a heat machine. These cost a fair amount, but for me at least will not be useful in most situations at that price.

These are nice self-adhesive laminating pouches. At first I thought they were kinda spendy, but they really are thicker than the other options. So if you need the thickest self adhesive cases I've found, these are them!

But because they are thicker, I found it harder to avoid creases with thinner paper. On thicker stuff, it's fine. But if you're working with normal paper, it may take some practice before you get results without creases. I got both letter size and 4x6. I had no issues laminating a 4x6 glossy, but letter sized paper was tougher to get it perfect.

It would be hard to cut these to size. They're really meant to be used once and full size. You could laminate a few things at once and cut them apart after, but that seems like a pain. You would need to leave a clear laminate border around the edges of each thing because only one side of the pouch is sticky. You won't be able to trim to exact size or there would be nothing to hold the back on. You could trim and leave say a 1/4 inch laminate border and you would still have a sealed product. Each sheet is larger than the advertised size so that there is a border! (If you get the 8.5x11, the sheets are around 9x11.5ish).

They protect both the front and the back of whatever you're laminating (be careful, some other brands are single sized and not really completely protecting!). They're flexible but stiff as thick as they are.

I like them. I think taking things to your local copy shop and getting them laminated is best. But, for quick and able to do at home, this is good. And it's really not more expensive than the copy shop since they usually charge around $3 a square foot!
