Man, I love this show! I don't buy many TV episodes, but I got seriously hooked when Season 7 was available free with Prime and I've snapped up every episode in every season since. I enjoy DIY and I like watching others who are brave enough to give these projects a shot... hey, if you find you can't do it or don't enjoy it, call a pro to finish up and you can still say you tried, right? Some of the things these people do are fairly idiotic... who doesn't turn a breaker off before messing with electricity? Some are honest mistakes of the "live and learn" variety. Some are just unpleasant surprises... like the dead bird discovered in a kitchen wall, along with tons of gnawing rodent damage that were a big surprise to the homeowners and took extra time and money to repair. The budgets can be ridiculously low and the projected time to complete totally off the wall... really, five days to gut and replace an entire kitchen when you've never done it before?? I just never get tired of it. Each couple is different, each home is different, each set of circumstances is different. Great series!

Great background show. I like it, but so many times they skip over too much renovation to just show drama and a finished project.

They need a disclaimer at the beginning of this show to let viewers know that what they are about to see is not the correct way to do a renovation. People that don't know better are going to watch this and then repeat the same poor construction in their own home and waste their money. This episode was one of the worst for this, I don't even know where to begin. Some of the glaring issues were; Incorrect tiling methods (incorrect use of a notched trowel, lack of spacers, uneven, etc), drywall was not finished, seamed or even attached correctly (looked like there was a big gap where the walls met the ceiling and I really liked the patch that stuck out from the wall above the sink, what was the deal with the cabinets? They made no sense the way they were layed out. The backsplash tile did not go to the bottom of the cabinets, etc, etc. No offense to the homeowner or his friend, they just didn't know any better. At least they didn't have a lot of money in it.
