These are an excellent pair of weightlifting shoes. I will first start out by saying I use these shoes specifically for high bar and front squatting and I train for powerlifting.

I purchased Nike Romaleos 2's as my first squat shoes and I used them for about three or four months. I will first start by saying those shoes are amazing Olympic weightlifting shoes, in looks, build quality, and function. However, for my biomechanics, the quarter inch heel was a bit too much for my liking. I have very good ankle flexibility and can squat ATG in flat soles with no problem. The main reason I prefer squat shoes is for the stability and a quicker set up after unracking the weight.

Over my four months of using those shoes, I noticed I was experiencing slight knee pain. I attributed this to the Romaleos having too much of a downward angle as a result of the quarter inch heel height. I have pretty long legs and my knees track forward naturally quite a bit when squatting ATG. With my knees becoming discomforted by the Romaleos, I went back to using my Chuck Taylor's to squat for about a month.

After a discussion with my friend as to why I stopped using the Nike's and explaining my theory of the heel being too high for me, he suggested these shoes. These shoes have a .6 inch heel opposed to a .75 inch heel on the Romaleos and other traditional weightlifting shoes. After some consideration and a 15$ off deal on amazon, I went for the Adidas Power lift 2.0s to see if they would feel better than the Romaleos did. Mind you the Romaleos cost 190$, these were 80$ after the coupon and tax.

First impressions wearing these shoes? All I can say is what a difference.

I thought it was maybe gimmicky, as a beginner at lifting weights, to get shoes specifically made for the purpose but these really do increase your stability during squats. Pretty dang comfortable as well. They look good (red, black and white) and the upper strap lets you pull it down tight for narrow feet. Impressed.

I originally wrote this review on the Adidas website, but they rejected it because it made reference to other brands. Since they don't want legitimate reviews, I'll write it here. The only reason I didn't buy these on Amazon is because the size 11's were $80 cheaper direct from Adidas. I'd rather buy from Amazon, but the price discrepancy was way too much.

Overall, the shoes are amazing. I feel so much better squatting in these than in Chuck's or any normal sneakers. They are COMFORTABLE. I am size 10 1/2, with wide feet. For Chuck's I need to go 11 1/2, but at that size they look like clown shoes and STILL feel a little narrow. I got the Powerlift 2.0's in 11, and they fit PERFECTLY. Seriously, even my perfectly fitted NB 10 1/2 EE running shoes don't feel as amazing as these. The inside is soft and comfortable. I still prefer Chucks for deadlifting, but I will never squat again without these amazing shoes.

These totally blew my socks off!

Like so many new gym goers, when I first started lifting, I used running shoes... Yeah, I know... I later switched to a flatter shoe once I nearly rolled an ankle doing lunges with a couple dumbbells. My shoe of choice? Whatever skate shoes I was currently skating with. These certainly felt better, but a volcanized sole is just a wee-bit squishy (out of my volcan mind). Everyone said, "Yeah dude, Chuck's are the way to go man." So, I bought some Chucks for $25 and didn't think anything of it until I started bumping the weight up on my squats.

Ankle mobility never was a problem until I got a desk job. I'm afraid the stationary 8 hours a day is starting to take-away from my mobility. That being said, high-bar or low-bar squats just haven't felt right for a long time. not until I got these!

These shoes are something else. First impressions were enough to tell me that I got a great quality shoe. The sole is good and firm, the material on the sides are breathable, the shoe is solid without being super heavy, and the fit is AMAZING. How does it feel lifting? It's taken me a few squat sessions to get the hang of it, but it has changed my form drastically - and for the better. The angle of the shoe allows me to distribute the load between my knees and hips without any discomfort. Whereas before, I either had to fold over and strain my back or fight to stay upright and kill my knees. I am now at a happy medium. I was able to squat 350 for 8 this morning and it was my muscles that were ready to give out - not my joints! Good vibes for sure - time to make some gainzzzzzz!

Sizing is true! And the Velcro strap is nice for a quick switch to my Van's for deadlift's

Seriously get you some of these - they can't be beat!

FYI - I still deadlift in my Van's classic slip-ons because I didn't really like the feel of the Powerlifter with DL's - but my DL's weren't bothering me.

    Size:
I was somewhat nervous ordering these online for the sole reason of sizing. I don't typically wear Adidas so I had no idea what would work for me. I checked several sporting goods stores and even an Adidas factory outlet and found this shoe nowhere. That being said, I tried on several pairs of other Adidas shoes hoping to get a general idea and their sizing seems to run the same with most of their shoes. I had read so many conflicting reviews here about ordering your dress shoe size, ordering your running shoe size, and other off the wall recommendations as well. I typically wear a 10.5 in men's Nike shoes so I naturally tried on several 10.5 shoes in Adidas. They fit well so I ordered the 10.5 in these and they fit great!

    Functionality:
I am very impressed with how this shoe allows me to perform. I have been getting into powerlifting and I can't imagine ever doing squats without these. It is a very stable base and the wedge seems to be just the right height to give me proper force when lifting. So much better than tennis shoes. I wish I had the money for a "true" power shoe but this definitely does the job and at a very good price.

I would definitely recommend these for anyone that takes lifting weights (specifically squats) seriously.
