We just had our house resided with Vinyl and I didn't want to put any holes in it to hang lights for Christmas so thought this would be the perfect thing. Well they lasted about 2 days and now everything is on the ground. As soon as the temp dropped and the humidity increased they let go. Keep trying Command/3M. I do need one of these to work!

I was almost put off by the instructions "clean, smooth surface" etc., as I got these to attach a string of lights to the top of a cedar fence. Went ahead and did it anyway, and the adhesive and clips seem to be working just fine. Also was able to fix a quarter-inch drip line to my resin fountain, having tried (and failed) using super glue, duct tape, etc..

Update 5/9. Heavy rain yesterday, and the hooks on the cedar fence are down today; so, I guess it's back to the staple gun. Doubt if these would work on Hardiplank, the siding of choice right now.

The clips themselves work fine, but it's the tape that works terribly. Since I had already purchase these, I decided to buy scotch's outdoor mounting tape that holds up to 15 lbs. That did the trick!

We like to keep, (& have done for yrs) a 50 ft. string of lights hanging from the edge of our first floor gutter
which overhangs our deck. We enjoy the always pleasant, festive feeling & gentle lighting it provides
for stepping out on the deck anytime, and lighting the way in the house at night.

The sun deteriorating the clips have always been an issue. (we've used "Santa's Best" for years)
The brittle clips occasionally fail before the lights do, and always need replaced by the time the string dose.

These Command out door clips have been a good solution for our needs.
They stick well to the gutter, and remove easily (1 ec 2 ft)
Their UV resistant and hold well in a temperature range of -20 ̊ F to 125 ̊F.
Rain ~ Snow ~ extreme hot & cold doesn't damage the clips, and we've been pleased with their performance.

The product information says these clips can be used to hang a variety of items, such as wreaths, signs, thermometers,
and seasonal decorations but doesn't suggest the weight limit.

But when I asked customer service one individual clip weight limit,
they said there's no suggested weight for each clip, because there designed to work as a unit with other clips.
When asked if they would be reliable for items mentioned in their product description, wreaths, signs, thermometers,
they said not to count on them for those uses.
When asked why those uses are in there product description, they said verb-age is some times used generally
on packaging/product description which may fit a variety of items, but may not suit the product you have.
This 'light clip' could not be counted on for securely holding anything but strings of lights.

So ~ when it's mentioned here that Command strips are great for hanging grill utensils, wreaths, lanterns & thermometers,
actually what needed is the Command Outdoor Terrace Hooks (2 in a pk - hold 3 lb)

Totally useless. Tried hanging some lights, they just fell right back off. Tried putting them closer together, replacing strips, washing area, nothing helped. Something is wrong with the strips. The hangers seem ok but I wish I had just bought regular hooks because they are a little hard to get the lights strands into, I feel like they may snap if I'm not careful. The strips hardly feel even tacky on the back, they messed up something with these. Will try these hooks again with regular small strips now that I have them but would NOT recomend.

I've always been a big fan of 3M's Command Series line of products, despite their unreasonably high prices. This time however, they've gone too far even for me. These Command Outdoor Light Clips, 16-Clip, 4-Pack are just as handy as the other Command products, but get this: The package includes just two things: 16 clear, hard-plastic clips, each about one inch by one-half inch, and 20 pieces of double-sided sticky tape of the same size, and about as thick as a dime. Sporting a list price over $50, and selling now for $31 on amazon, I cannot recommend this product. They are handy, the clips do hold your cords/strings securely, and the two-sided tape seems to grip well on outdoor surfaces. For that I give them two stars instead of one. But truth be told, there are many other options available: Double-sided tapes in varieties of strengths run about $6 for 10 times the quantity, and there are hooks and clasps aplenty (including other Command clips) at a fraction of the cost. I suggest getting creative with these alternatives to save yourself $20 or more. Take a friend to lunch and brag about how you found less expensive substitutes. If they're not impressed, tell them you're picking up the lunch tab with just the money you saved, that should impress 'em.

I bought these unsure if they would work on my outdoor rooftop deck. I wanted to string rope lights along the edges of the rooftop, and thought these would be the least amount of work without having to still into the concrete. Having read reviews on outdoor command hooks, I was unsure if they would work. I first tried it on the cinder top portion, and it wouldn't stick. So then, I tried it on the PAINTED concrete wall section, and it WORKED!! I have a feeling because of the paint, it had more of a flat solid surface to stick to. Very happy with it, I put a hook every 1.5 feet or so, and after 2.5 weeks with multiple storms and strong winds, it's holding strong. Will update my review if it comes down too quickly. Overall, very happy and my recommendation would be to only try to stick outdoor on solid surfaces and on anything painted!
