This is super easy to use - just push the pump and it foams out into your hand or onto the dog. (See the photo of the white foam on Traveler) It's silent, so if you have a skittish dog, no worries. Massage it into your dog's coat and then using your hands, wipe down with the grain of the hair, toward the tail, to remove excess hair. The dog will be damp, but not wet and they dry in just a couple of minutes. Think of this as sort of like the dry shampoo for people, except instead of a spray powder formula, this is a wet foam - like foaming hand soap, but without the lotion type texture of soap.
Our six dogs are all short, slick hair dogs and I was actually pretty surprised at how much excess hair came off each one of them when we did this. It's like the shampoo helped loosen up or free already loose hair ready to shed. I had a little pile of hair on the patio after each dog. In fact after doing the first dog with my bare hands, I put on rubber gloves for the next five dogs! All six hounds were very good sports about this foaming shampoo and didn't object to it in the least - we have two that act like a bath is akin to being put in the stew pot with some potatoes & carrots, so this is a nice option for a quick clean up for a smelly hound without all the Drama Dog Production.
It's been several hours now and my guys all smell fresher and no one has shown any sort of allergic reactions to the shampoo. They feel soft and when I run my hands over their coats my hands don't come away sticky or with any sort of chemical residue on my skin. I'm not allergic to the dogs, so I don't truly know if the allergen blocking claims work or not, but the removal of excess loose hair means less dander and less dander means fewer allergens, so I'm inclined to believe there are fewer dog allergens in the room right now. I'll use this stuff again - especially on my Drama Dogs.
