As usual, both of my dogs really love the taste of the Nutro’s Chicken & Whole Brown Rice & Oatmeal recipe. Storm was closely examining me check out the bag as soon as it landed at my house. They do enjoy trying different treats and dog foods, but Liam is on what I’d call a couple of weight gainer meds and needs to lose weight. I’ve put him on a diet before with great success, but he now needs to lose weight again. We’ve also tried Salmon and Whole Brown Rice as well as Lamb and Whole Brown Rice Recipe. I’m sure that they really don’t care, but I do like to mix things up now and then. I’ve checked out the “Lite” recipe, but like the look of this one a bit better as it’s tailored for the small breed dog.

The kibble isn’t hard for Liam to eat (it’s very small) and he doesn’t have trouble with it even though he’s had some tooth loss. If I read the first few ingredients I probably would want to add it to my own diet as I mentioned when I received the other bags. I’m not seeing anything that I find offensive, but rather things that I like to see. I like that chicken is first in the lineup with some whole grains and pea protein thrown in the mix. For a smaller dog like Liam, I could actually justify the expense of this food.

There are feeding recommendations on the side of the bag as well as transitioning recommendations, which I’ve used before. As far as how much to feed, I do run these things by my vet first. They have a chart of all name brand foods and recommend according to what they see and what they want my dogs to eat. I do have a tendency to overfeed given the disparity in the sizes of my dogs. I’ve used Nutro in the past and definitely like the quality. My dogs aren’t picky and certainly love it.Read more ›

Our dogs are getting older and a little less active than in the past. Noticed they were beginning to put on a little weight and switched them to the weight management food from Nutro. Dogs love it and have had no issues. Working great and were happy with the results.

We adopted our little Robin as a rescue from a breeding farm. She was as timid as the day is long, and still runs from anything threatening. When we feed all of our dogs together (my daughter's and ours) I have to either put her in her kennel or guard her, because if any of the other dogs gets near, she abandons her food.

In addition to dinner, we keep kibble in a feeder that drops into the bowl. When this food arrived, I placed a small amount into the bowl mixed with the other kibble. Not only did Robin immediately grab some kibble, but when my Daughter's dog came near, for the very first time, she defended her spot with a growl.

Now, I don't encourage bad behavior among the dogs, but I noticed no one else came near till she finished. So, bully for her, she found something worth defending!

We have a small breed Dachshund long hair who has been slowly gaining weight over the years that we have had him. We looked at a number of options and this one seems to work best, meaning he loves to eat it, but at the same time we have stabilized his weight. We've been using this brand for about a year now with no regrets, with a little more exercise we were able to cut off a few pounds, combined with this food from Nutro he is a happy little guy and is pretty much in line with his weight expectations.

It should be noted that this bag comes with a resealable opening which is great but it can be a little bit difficult to get an adult sized hand in there with the scoop that we use. Nothing that is a big deal but just worth a note.

We have three dogs, two small ones, a Pug and a Japanese Shin, and a big one a 150lbs Leonberger. They all ate it. Well, the Nutro Weight Management Dry Dog Food is intended for small breeds but we sometimes have accidents with the big one helping himself to the small dogs’ food. Our Pug is a quite picky eater and yet she ate it without hesitation, so it must taste good. I did not taste it myself, but I think that would be going too far. They did not have diarrhea or any other noticeable issues. The ingredients seem to be healthy. It isn’t grain free but our dogs eat grain anyway. The bag was practical having a tear strip for easy opening and pouring. This seem like good dog food to me.

This one I believe is one of the best smell I ever had and my dog loves this. Its size is perfect for small breed (my dog weigh 14lbs), and I give half cup each morning and night.
Additionally the bag is well-designed, and I love it. Sealing is very easy as its design is so good.
This was the first time I tried this food, ​but I will buy it again in the future.

I have a small Maltese Shih Tzu mix and she is a picky eater. I have tried many brands and varieties of dry dog food on her and there are only a handful of them that she love and finish. I recently received this Nutro Small Breed Adult Weight Management dog food with chicken, whole brown rice & oatmeal recipe, so we decided to let her try and slowly transit her to this dog food.

I have to admit these kibbles smell great to me. It's much more aromatic and less of the nasty dog food smell. The kibbles are small, perfect for my small breed. I gave her a small scoop just to try. It passed her taste test. She seems to love it. She has transitioned to this new dog food and have been having it for 2 weeks now. She hasn't had any bad reactions or tummy problems so far.

I appreciate that Nutro uses the finest natural ingredients in this dog food, with real chicken being the first ingredient, followed by chicken meal, whole brown rice, brewers rice, rice bran, pea protein, whole grain oatmeal, etc. There are no corn or grain fillers in it. It seems like a quality dog food manufactured in the USA with traceable, finest ingredients from around the world, so they claim. Anyway, it is reasonably priced and my dog's favorite food now.
