    These are the [near]perfect black booties! They're both professional and sleek enough to wear directly from work to play. I've gotten compliments every time I've worn these, including from strangers (this does NOT happen normally, even with my other Clarks ;D)

    PROS: comfortable (no break in period), aesthetics, versatile, just the right height

    CONS: can dig into ankles as previously mentioned by reviewers (tip: stick a small piece of moleskin from the inside of the shoe at the offending area outwards, ideally covering a bit of the edge of the shoe that's digging into your skin); soles not a anti-slip as my other Clarks (not that you’ll fall or anything, but just something to beware of)

    SIZING: I'm a 8.5W in casual shoes, and 9 in athletics. In Clarks, I'm a 8.5W in any models with wide sizing available, and 9 when there isn't (especially if the shoe narrows out at the front like this model.) The 9 in these shoes fit perfectly with thicker socks OR some insoles + thin socks.

    If you're on the dot in size, get your regular. If you're in between sizes and have narrow feet, go down a half. If you're in between sizes and have wider feet like me, go up a half. If you're in between sizes and have normal width feet, go up/down depending on whether you want insoles or extra space for boot socks.

    I want to give these boots 5 stars because they're absolutely fabulous in so many ways. The shoe portion fits well, the heal height is perfect, and I get compliments every single time I wear them. Every. Time. Unfortunately, they rub on the top outside edge just under my ankle bone. I got a small blister on both ankles the first time I wore the boots; and every subsequent time I have worn them, the same place gets irritated. Therefore, I can usually only wear them for short periods of time, which is a bummer. Honestly, I'd wear them all fall/winter long if I could do so without the whole blister thing. I'm willing to concede that this might very well be a personal fit issue...so don't rule them out, if you're considering them. I think they're a great looking bootie. Just wish they hit a little lower (or a tiny, tiny bit higher) at the ankle.

    Cute shoes, quality leather, perfect heel height. Unfortunately, the top edge of the shoe rubs right below my outer ankle bone. Back they go - thank goodness for Amazon's free shipping and return policy! I may look for this same shoe style in an ankle boot to avoid this problem.

    These are my go to shoe when at the office; really even outside of the office. I have to go up and down stairs and do lots of walking. Very comfortable and stylish. Good leather on these. I don't have the issue with the zippers digging into my ankles at all. If they made these in a taller boot, I'd have those too. I should probably get another pair to have when these wear out.

    These shoes are wonderful! I have plantar fasciitis and was lamenting because I couldn't wear cute shoes to work any more. My physical therapist said to try wedges and so I ordered these. I can wear them all day walking around my office and campus and I have no foot pain at all!

    I love the look of these shoes, and the fact that the heel isn't too high. Unfortunately, as some other reviewers have mentioned, one of the shoes digs just under my ankle (the other boot feels fine), which is why I said I couldn't wear them comfortable all day. Still, they look great!

    Just out of the box... I've had trouble with Clarks' sizing and took a chance on these (1/2 size smaller than normal) at another retailer for $31 after coupons. As other posters have said, the 'cuff' hits just at the bottom of the ankle bone. I love the look and heel height and am willing to live with it!
