I have used the comparable Nikwax product on aging sailing foulies etc. for years. This stuff works better. If you really saturate your garment, surface water will bead off again. Whatever is in this product lasts through more wearings and rinses. I use roughly twice the recommended amount of spray. I also switched to their cleaning product as well.

Granger is the best spray on DWR restorer that I have found for my Arcteryx and other waterproof gear. Doesn't leave any white residue like Nikiwax and last suprisingly long. I use it once a season and it lasts as long as I don't get it too dirty. Use your dryer on low instead of air dry, seems to ad hear it better

The Granger Wash Cleaner is great, does it's job. Prewash with a little dish soap worked into any heavy stains, then wash again using the Granger wash cleaner, but if you don't have heavy stains don't bother with the dish soap step. After washing follow the instructions for the Xtreme Repel Spray. It means that after you wash the garment hang it for half an hour in the shower, but while it's still wet add the Repel Spray and put it in the dryer. For some reason it must still be wet for the Repel Spray to adhere to the material in the dryer.

I have a Arcteryx Alpha SV $700 Dollar jacket

I did buy the Grangers Performance wash also but didn't use it

I hand washed w/"ALL" brand liquid detergent in a cheap plastic bucket...just to test a theory

I know now I can accomplish what I need to w/out having to order special detergent

However there is no alternative to "DWR"

You will have to order Grangers or a similar brand to re-establish your "DWR"

This spray did make my Jacket "NEW"...not like new...NEW NEW...I know because I bought my jacket NEW NEW

I also tested it w/the water hose...so there's that

Wter rolls off just like a duck's ass

110% clean now and good to go for the wet cold season

I wrote a review on the performance wash hopefully Amazon will post it

All you really need is the "DWR"

This is by far the best DWR treatment I have ever used. I have used Nikwax, Revivex, Arcteryx before, but none can compared to this. My jackets were beading water but also absorbed some resulting wetting sparsely allover after I used those products. However, after applying Granger's, my jackets were beading water completely just like new. I guess this is because the fluorocarbon chemicals in the formula that made the difference. I am so glad my jackets are performing perfect as new now. Garments are Arcteryx Keibo jacket, Rush jacket, Beta AR pants.

Applied to a jacket that was washed with Granger's wash then dried on low heat in the dryer. I applied generously to my jacket then dried it on low heat in the dryer. My jacket is much better at repelling water than before treating it with this product.

The next day we went to the mountains and she still had some water get through. Next time we may spray a little extra near the butt/crotch area.
