Directions

When our dog sees that we're about to open a can of this food, she begins doing an excited dance, licks her lips and drools. Even our two cats arrive and seek to have a share of this food when we open a can of it. Once we've emptied a can of this food into our dog's bowl, she immediately gobbles all of it. If we allocate a small portion of the food for our cats, we must separate them from our dog or they'll be pushed away. We have never given our dog any food that excites her as much as does this food. My wife observed that the pleasant fragrance of this chicken and oatmeal food may be part of the appeal to all of our animals. It smells good enough to be food for humans.

One thing I don’t like in my foods are artificial colors, preservatives, or flavors. I try to do the best by my animals and try to stay away from junk foods. I certainly am willing to pay what I can afford in order to steer clear of detrimental ingredients. The Nutro Tender Chicken & Rice Recipe won’t be Storm’s main diet, but rather something that will supplement it.

He’s a mega-active guy and it’s as if this food were tailored just for a dog like him. I’m not a pro at reading labels, but I can often spot things I don’t like. I’m not seeing anything that I would shy away from here. In fact, it does seem like a very well-rounded canned food that he certainly loves.

This Nutro does have a decent level of protein without going overboard. My vet gave me a cautionary note once about too much protein being a strain on the kidneys. Of course we were talking about our older dog, but the amount seems just about right for Storm. He fits right in the weight level for this Nutro and I’m very pleased that there are now high-quality canned foods to supplement the kibble.Read more ›

I'm not going to wax on for paragraphs about a can of dog food, but I'll make 3 points:

1. Opening the can, I was not offended by the smell - which is not unlike that of canned beef stew, and such other people foods.

2. The ingredients list is too long to reproduce here, but I'll list the first 5 items: chicken broth, chicken, chicken liver, beef liver, ground rice. Thus, one can see this is heavy on the meat and light on the corn and wheat. In fact, it contains no corn or wheat - but it does contain a wide array of vitamin supplements.

3. My two spoiled dogs absolutely loved it. LOVED IT!

A premium dog food. Nothing scary here, and (apparently) the taste is sublime.

This is truly excellent quality dog food, and it is more meaty and filling, I think, than the Natural Balance duck and potato brand and flavor we had used previously. It is a little more expensive per case, but I actually think the food has less fluid and is therefore more substantive so it may well be worth the extra few dollars per case.

An excellent canned dog food with healthful ingredients. Our pet loves it, too.

cheaper than any local store around! my puppy loved it! i like that its not in a metal can. it has a tear back foil top. i can't find a lid to fit it for the left overs. square container. fresh product and great ingredients. very happy with this product and purchase!

This is going to be a good product for us to use to change up the food flavors in our dogs bowls. We use canned food as something to perk up jaded appetites at the early morning feeding when the dogs get tired of the kibble they are eating and there is still 10 pounds left in the 28 pound bag. Using this Nutro adult food with chicken, rice and oatmeal has been a good addition for us. I have two large dogs so it would be extremely expensive to try to feed canned food exclusively, but by putting some of this in their morning food bowl and adding water to it I make a gravy that then moistens and flavors the dry kibble. The dry food we give them is high quality but the dogs have 'trained' us to augment their picky palate with an equally high quality wet food. This Nutro is working well. The food is ground so don't expect to see recognizable pieces in the food, however, it really does smell like chicken or chicken stock. According to the label if you are going to use this as the exclusive food for your dog, you should feed between 1/3 to 2/3 can per 10 pounds of body weight.

The positives about this food is that our dogs both really enjoy it, there have been no tummy upsets since they have been eating it, and according to the label, there is no hidden corn meal. This food is not the major component in their diet so I would be very surprised if it began to have any negative or positive effects on their skin and coat. This is a great way to supplement the feedings for our dogs.
