Upgrade their performance in the Asics Kids Matflex� 5 GS wrestling shoe. The breathable synthetic and mesh upper helps to manage moisture efficiently and keep feet dry. Adequate traction is provided by the gum rubber outsole for professional footing.

In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body."     These are good shoes, but I ordered a size up, and they are REALLY tight for my 5 year olds feet. It takes an adult in order to get them on and off. I know Wrestling shoes are supposed to be tighter and contour to your feet, but these were a little more then they should be. But the design and the color is awesome! My sons favorite color is RED so he loves them. One suggestion that I wish I would have noticed, they make wrestling shoes with VELCRO instead of laces, I like that idea for younger kids.

    These are not fancy but really perform well. The only thing that kept me from using 5 stars was that the shoe laces are very, very long. In wrestling, this can get tangled up. These could use shorter laces or a cover strap around ankle. Great shoe!

    I LOVE ASICS shoes for my kids and generally swear by them.... But I was really disappointed with this purchase! I bought a size up from the pair of ASICS tennis shoes that my son currently wears and these are smaller than that pair by far! These are just NOT true to size compared to other ASICS shoes we have bought. We made due by packing (Both parents pushing with all our might) the dang things onto our Sons feet because he needed them for his tournament but he will not be able to wear them again. I am now out 40+ dollars and extremely disappointed!

    After only 1 practice some of the red color on the toe of the shoe started to come off. Now, a month into wrestling season and much more of the color has come off the toe - NOT what I would expect from ASICS shoes. I have had, and several of my kids have had, various other brands of wrestling shoes and all of them held up better than this. It just seems like the materials are not near as good as they should be, or quality control is extremely lax. In any case, I think next time we will go back to another brand.

    These are fantastic wrestling shoes for the money. My seven-year-old is in AAU wrestling. He outgrows all of his gear each season. It gets very expensive. These are the least expensive shoes I could find. Their only shortcoming is that there is no pouch or flap in the tongue for securing the ends of the laces, which is a feature most wrestling shoes have.
