The actual size of these are much closer to 16 1/8in W. There is no way that these are 16 1/4in. If you are planning to use these for 16 x 20 matted prints then you will be disappointed as they will not have sufficient clearance to allow for more than 1 mat although you may get 2 in if you use surgical precision. You can forget about any kind of backing for them. I use standard thickness mat board and could not fit my finished product into these bags without tearing them.

was disappointed that this sleeve does not accommodate a matted picture just one mounted on a photo board :( 2 bags ripped and wasted in process of trying to slip them on a matted photo size 16x20
