For the price, this is great thread!

I sew a lot of costumes for dance, so having a large variety of colors is a must. I love the colors in this pack! It is nice too because some of the colors like bright neon yellow or orange are colors that I typically wouldn't sew with a lot, so the fact that the spools have less thread (making the price lower) is better than having to buy a full spool of colors that I wouldn't use a lot.

I am using this thread on a Brother cs6000i and have not had any problems with breakage. I use this thread in both the bobbin and the top. This would also be a nice set to have around if you do some hand sewing like buttons or fancy stitches to embellish sleeves or necklines.

I only give it 4 stars because I have to agree with another reviewer that says finding the end of the thread on a new spool is impossible. It isn't impossible, but it is very hard and a little annoying.

This review is for the 24 spool multi-colored set. The spools aren't arranged in any particular order in the box, so I grouped them by color. While these color names aren't "official," you'll get, white, silver, gray, black, brown, caramel, red, rose, fuschia, pink, salmon, orange, peach, gold, yellow, canary, light green, green, olive, blue, baby blue, cyan, violet and purple.

Each spool is individually wrapped and tightly cross-wound. If you look carefully for the piece of thread that doesn't follow the wind, you'll find the thread end easily. These spools can be used with any home machine or thread stand. The thread is meant to pull off over the top as the spool and you'll notice that there's no "lip" at the edges like straight wound spools have. This allows it to be mounted horizontally as well. Many thread spools are straight-wound and are meant to unwind with the thread pulling to the side and should only be mounted vertically. If mounted horizontally, straight-wound thread passes over the lip of the spool, adding a twist which places more stress on the thread causing extra or uneven tension that can lead to thread breakage.

At 100 yards, these spools have less thread than your typical spool which has between 2 and 3 hundred yards. Keep this in mind if you're working on large projects and need the same color thread throughout. These spools will serve better as repair thread or for smaller projects when you take into account the amount of thread needed to fill your bobbin if sewing with a machine.

I found that the thread worked well with my Brother sewing machine. It fed smoothly and once I get the tension set up for my project, I didn't experience any thread breakage thanks to the high tensile strength of the polyester.Read more ›

Not impressed. Some thread looks okay, but many spools are fuzzy. Impossible to find thread end on many spools.

9/5/15 update: I'm a beginning sewist, and this product is nothing but frustration. Thread breaks constantly. Extremely poor quality. It may be usable for hand sewing, but not in a machine.

I'm a 61 year old man. I don't sew unless I get a rip or lose a button. This has every color out there including some I wouldn't be caught dead in. Is it "good" thread? I don't know, I don't sew very well.

Sucks. I'm not too bummed out because of the low price. That being said, it is not good thread. Hard to find the ends of many of the spools. I've had thread break virtually every time, and I am threading my machine correctly. The gold thread is pretty but nothing but a pain as the gold constantly wipes off and gets....furry. If nothing else though, it is nice to have so many colors in case I don't have a matching color of my good quality thread.

39 spools for like $9 is a good deal - just don't expect anything of high quality.

Ok so the pros: SO MANY COLORS!
Cons:
Clearly very cheap thread flown in from China.
Spool is more like a thin piece of PVC pipe, does not sit on the machine and spin right.
I will be using these for small projects I start on a whim that I don't have nicer thread for. However I would get better thread for any project of substance.

nice assortment of colors. There is not a lot on one spool for major work but this is great for when you have to fix something and you need to match the color. I didn't have issues with the quality of the thread, no breakage or knotting.
