Where should I start. How about it ships with obsolete software bundled with it. You're forced to pay to update to a version of the software that is compatible for windows 10. They offer free updates to people who own a set of version numbers of their software but us unfortunate ones have the bundled free version and need to pay to get the latest. I don't even know if it will function properly without the software it has bundled with it to function. It never reconnects just my stereo speakers on my stereo and mono conversation headset. Instead it will auto connect the mic and mono speaker for talking. I need to manually open the software, click on the headset within the software app and lastly I have to double or right click to open dropdown menu and select listen to music to initiate a connection every single time. Great if all you want to do is make a phone call but sucks when you use it for gaming or movies on the PC. Also after a few days of having my PC in sleep mode off and on I have to disable the bluetooth adapter and re enable it so I can connect my headset. Never had this problem what so ever on my other BT dongle that my son now uses. Do yourself a favor and buy one that does not need software for extra features to work and preferably one with better translated instructions too. Stay away from BlueSoleil software bundled products IMO.

Side note:
Software app ( BlueSoliel ) has advertisements at the bottom of it too. This is paid software mind you. With freaking advertisements for their products.

I really wanted to like this product, unfortunately just about everything went wrong for me when I tried to use it. First of all I have windows 7 and it was not "plug and play". After waiting what seemed to be an eternity my computer told me that the device driver software was not successfully installed. After downloading the most current software version from their website it started to work. Then it asked me for a serial number. Neither the packaging nor the instruction manual contained the serial number I was asked for. Without the serial number the dongle would only run in trial mode. Trial mode only transfers 2mb of data and anything over 2mb would fail to transfer. Overall I was very disappointed in this product and had no choice but to give it a 1 star review. I received this item at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

After trying to get the propitiatory software, which is stuck in the 19th century, to install and figure out how to use said software I am now returning it because the user interface is complete garbage, and when I wen to take the Dongle out of my HUB and put it into another computer the metal casing was stuck in the hub while the black part (with the electronics) just slid rid out, it nearly ruined my USB hub. Thought this device was a plug and play device, but it was not, my Windows 10 laptop wasn't able to show that the device was usable until I installed the garbage software, which then asked for a license key, otherwise I couldn't use all the features in Bluetooth 4.0, WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THAT, Bluetooth 4.0 is an OPEN SOURCE code, which is FREE, and you want your customers to pay an extra fee JUST to be able to access those features. That is the most dumbest thing I have seen to-date.

I am returning this item. I have a Windows 7 Dell laptop that does not have bluetooth. I bought this item, downloaded it, and when I try to activly pair it, my devices (Microsoft 4.0 keyboard and mouse) are not found. When I go to the Avantree web page, I only see overseas numbers. I see there should be chat available, but it is not. Not happy.

The device is small and compact. However, if I put the device in a USB port on the back of my computer, it would have a hard time communicating with my headset (dropped audio, reduced audio quality, etc.). The back of my computer is about 3-4' away from my headset usually. Once I moved the device to a USB port on the front of my computer, I no longer had an issue.

Works better than the other $7 adapter I purchased (paid $12 for this one), but still has abysmal range (maybe 10 feet, max, regardless of device used). The bundled software is GOD AWFUL AND IS A TRIAL VERSION OF SOME CRAP IT BUGS YOU TO PAY FOR ALL THE TIME though. Recommend avoiding this product.

terrible software. It installs some odd software shell above the device driver that has a limit on the amount of data it will transmit before extorting more money from you.
I bought another adapter for about the same price of sending this back that works great.
At east it doesn't take up too much room in the trash.

I'm late, as usual, to the cell phone tech fest and I was interested in learning more about Blue Tooth. My laptop didn't ship with it, but when I saw how inexpensive this dongle is, I couldn't resist giving it a try. I was amazed to see how many devices are Blue Tooth compatible on the market. So far, I've used the unit to free up USB ports controlling the mouse, keyboard and head phones, transferred files between various household cell phones and set mood lighting and sound for a D&D campaign. I've only had the opportunity to use this unit with a 3.0 USB, but there seems to be no noticeable latency in communication with devices. My apartment is fairly small, but the range hasn't been an issue at all and I've yet to experience any disturbance in service. The dongle is low profile in size and includes a very subtle green led activity indicator.
