I got these for my 7 month old who, like most kids his age, loves anything that makes sound. The pros: these are sleek and well-designed. The plastic is heavyweight and made to last. The modern designs are nice as well. The cons: despite being marketed a a music set, they really aren't that musical. In fact, other than the red one, the sounds they make are not very pleasant to hear.

In other words, they aren't that different from rattles. I like these well enough as does my son, but these are playthings we could definitely live without.

Nice set of rattles. Each has a different mechanism. The red one contains a jingle bell; the blue one contains little metal cymbals; and the blue/yellow one has a clapper mechanism. My three month old enjoys the red and blue ones (he hasn't figured out the clapper yet). Also, the hole in the handle allows you to hand it from a play-yard with those little plastic chain things so a baby who can't quite hold these can still swat at them. No complaints.

I ordered these for my niece, and she loves them!

Taking these out of the box was easy. Each of the rattles is attached to a cardboard sleeve with a twist tie on each. It took only a minute to have all three out of the box. There isn't any tape, plastic wrap, or zip ties to remove.

Each rattle produces different noises. The red rattle has jingle balls inside, the aqua one a coil that shakes and the blue rattle cracks the yellow piece back and forth.

Zoey is about 11 months and can hold each comfortably. She turns her head when someone else shakes a different rattle and grabs for it.

This is a great set of toys, and I definitely recommend purchasing these for your own child, or as a gift.

Perfect starter set for Mommy n Me music time! Babies love learning and playing along - easy to grasp, shake and clean! Love the mod/mis centry design of this hip shakers. Great gift as well! Sounds is very sweet rather than harsh....

Our little one (18 months) has got some natural rhythm and grooves to some his favorite baby tunes. We thought this Tempo Music Set by Kid O could nurture some innate musical talents.

What's good:
*Large, rounded, plastic handles and plastic tempo instruments without any sharp edges.
*Three simple instruments: Bells, Tambourine, and a castanet.
*Exercises little hands and arms and help develop some simple motor/rhythmic/musical skills.
*Seeing and hearing our kiddo groovin' and movin' to the music was fascinating for awhile.

The reality:
*While the bells and tambourine create some metal clanging noises, the castanet just creates some plastic clacking sounds.
*This set seem to amuse our little one and his little buddies with all the commotion of clanging and clacking but becomes noisy and annoying after a few minutes for most adults in close proximity.
*Recommended only for the calmest and most patient parents.

While a set of toys that is designed to make noise is generally not something most parents would put at the top of their toy wish list for their kids, this set really isn't too bad on the annoying scale. The three rattles have three different sounds; the teal rattle has zils - the symbol things on the side of tamborines - the blue and yellow rattle sounds like a plastic hand clapper, and the red rattle has two jingle bells inside.

They are made of sturdy plastic and can easily be wiped off with a damp cloth or rinsed if something major happens. The sturdy design is also good for getting thrown around by the older kids, too. I have a pretty young kid, still an infant, so she's not really into playing with them yet, but my friends' and siblings' kids have played with this as toddlers and they enjoyed making these make noise. My infant will stare at these when I shake them for her though, and the interest is still there and wonderful to see.

Bonus points for being small enough to hide easily from your kids when you're tired of hearing them. :)

Kid O makes good quality, well-designed toys for infants and toddlers, and you might want to visit the Kid O site to see the range of their products and to get a general sense of what Kid O is about. Kid O was founded by Lisa Mahar, a mother of 3, and you can easily learn more about her and the philosophy behind Kid O toys by searching lisa mahar kid o or something like that.

The Kid O Music Set is a beautiful set of what are basically rattles for little hands. Each makes a unique sound, and each sound is loud enough to satisfy toddlers, yet not so loud as to unduly disturb the adults in the room. The rattles are safe, and thankfully, removing them from the packaging is not even remotely a chore and leaves you with nothing more than a bit of cardboard to recycle and three reusable twist ties.

Though designed for kids ages 1-5, we know someone who is 8 months old who loves playing with them, and I doubt they'd hold much interest to kids over 4, if that old.

These are nice and thick rattles. It is called a music set, but the music that comes out of them sound like a baby rattle. I was expecting them to make better sounds, but they are pretty standard. However, the quality of them are very nice. They are thick and solid, and my kid can grab these with ease. He is 19 months ( a little too old for these), and enjoyed shaking them and making us shake them. He loves to dance so he walks around and shakes and dances with them. They are a bit basic, and more perfect for an infant. My son played with them for a few days and then went on to something else. If he was younger, they would have been the perfect rattles because they can withstand abuse, and have thick handles for a baby to graph easier.

Music is subjective I guess, so it technically is a "music set". But just know, these are really just nicely designed baby rattles in actuality. Still, I like them, and my baby girl once she is old enough to hold these will enjoy them.
