This is a case of getting what you pay for. My son and I have several RC items, from helicopters and planes to cars, but the cars we have are in the four to five hundred dollar range, serious RC cars that are over-engineered and really get some speed.

I opted for this so we'd have something that was a little more "usable" inside the house in the winter time.

It's decently constructed, lightweight, and really does look good. But it's an inexpensive car, and there's no getting around that. The remote doesn't feel that great, and there's no speed control, strictly "on" and "off" for both forwards and reverse.

The wheels aren't the normal slippery hard plastic, but they're not as sticky as real rubber would be either. This causes me issues when they just spin on the floor because it's so low to the ground, with so little clearance, that I have problems with the threshold between hard floors and carpets. So it has a tendency to hang up, and the tires aren't sticky enough to get it going.

For a kid, though, it's a decent enough car, you just have to make adjustments for the shortcomings - we have a couple pieces of cardboard we put on the floor on the tile where we can then drive it up to over the threshold to the carpeted areas.

But at least the price reflects the value, since I've seen vehicles that performed about on par with this one, but cost twice as much. This one at least knows it's place in the grand scheme of things.

I live in a condo in San Diego County and a family downstairs is, to me, like family.I'm a ventriloquist and even gifted them an old puppet. They've come up to give me cookies, and the whole family invited me to go to the famous Christmas Card Lane earlier this week. (And I just ordered four books for them here on Amazon). Their dog thinks I'm another dog (people have made that mistake, too) when I visit. So when I saw this item I immediately ordered it. I wanted to see how engrossed the kids would be and their 7 year old boy would be the main one to use it. WELL it didn't take long to get IMMMEDIATE feedback:

Within an hour "little Goose" was ringing the door bell with two of his friends to show me how great this toy is. "You have to use it inside," he told me and proceeded to run it in my house, scaring the 5 year old cat and getting a "don't you dare come closer" look from my 21 year old female cat. "It's the best!" his parents told me..and little Goose noted that he intended to take it up to Northern CA when they went up there for Thanksgiving. From what I had learned, it was easy to start easy to use -- and proclaimed as awesome. And today I got this email from little Goose's father -- who noticed some other qualities in this toy that they don't advertise:
"Loads of fun almost right out the box!!! Well almost. As soon as you get the batteries in the remote....that's when the fun begins. The car is very easy to drive and surprisingly durable. Multiple bumps and crashes in the baseboards have yet to either crack the car or rub the paint of the bumper. The best part about this car is the competitions to see who can do the best tricks and fastest times in races. Definitely would recommend to friends and family with young children."
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

My dog and I play with this set every day. It's just big enough that he can chase it around, but it's not small enough for him to be able to get his mouth around it to actually bite it. He weighs about 14 lbs and it's pretty much perfect for him. At first it freaked him out that the car "chased" him, but now he's gotten brave and he chases it. However, I never leave it where he can reach it when we're not playing with it together. He's a maltese/yorkie/schnauzer mix and since those are all terrier or spaniel breeds, he's very high energy. He yaps and chases until he's exhausted and that makes things easier for me and my house! I imagine it might have the same effect on children. It's surprisingly tough and about 8" long. The one I got was white, but it's the same car. It has a lot of pep and is a pretty good buy for the price. My only complaint is the remote control unit. It's a trigger system. You pull back on the trigger to go forward and push the trigger forward to make it go backwards. That seems odd to me. The steering is on the side and is a wheel that goes forward and back, so it's hard to keep straight whether forward is left or right and vice versa. I think they should have put it on the back of the unit and made it go sideways. But otherwise, it's easy to operate and a lot of fun for human and canine alike. Cats might enjoy it, too!

It seems that every time I try a new R/C vehicle, I have to relearn how to drive. In the case of this GT350, it took me about 10 minutes to get to the point where I was steering and sending power tolerably well.
The Mustang's turning radius is not quite what I'd hope--I tried for a while to get it to make a circuit in about a 6-square-foot area and never managed to do it without at least one three-point turn--and, although it will run on very low carpet, it doesn't like bumps or carpet of medium height. It runs very well on smooth tile, but the tires slip just a bit. What I like best about the car, at least at this point in its battery life, is that it's very responsive and makes adjustments instantly. This feature will prevent some crashes.
My 10-year-old son loves the look of the car and says it's lots of fun to drive. We're very pleased with it overall.
