Have a kid that loves space and Legos? Our 6 year old son has fallen head over heals for this Lego City Utility Space Shuttle. As he points out in his video review, it comes with 2 packages to put together and he pretty much did it himself with some assistance from me, his dad, but mainly as sidekick support.

It can stand upright in the shuttle launch position without falling over (thank the Lego Gods) and has movable parts for realistic fun including the main side wings and top stabilizers. (Note: If your kid likes to take the space shuttle along in the car like ours, the main pieces to check-check-double-check for are the stabilizers.) And I've noticed when he's playing is this size of space shuttle fits great in his one hand when flying.

Additional parts in the set include 2 astronauts (man and lady), a satellite, and a trusty ole wrench (which surprisingly comes in handy as you can only imagine when traveling into imaginary space there will be explosions and faulty engines and satellites to fix in under 5 seconds or less before the entire galaxy is destroyed.)

So overall, if you aren't quite ready to invest in the Spaceport 60080, this is certainly a worthy "cheaper" version.

My 6 year old grandson had no trouble reading and following the very clear directions and he put the space ship together himself. I only had one issue with one of the three thrusters on the end of the ship, one of them wouldn't stay in and I just put a blob of glue on it. We really enjoyed his pleasure with the shuttle.

Great instructions. Perfect for a 4 year old learning to follow directions. We do one side and then she does the other. Very cool looking shuttle.... glad it has a female astronaut for my daughter.

Bought this for my 4 year old for Easter- he likes it and put it together pretty quickly, but my 2 year old is IN LOVE with it. He's a huge rocket ship fan so he's been carrying it around blasting off all day every day. Really happy with the product (which is Lego so you probably have an idea of the quality of the product itself- lots of small pieces to lose but otherwise sturdy).

My almost 5 year old couldn't wait for daddy to help him. So he started by himself and worked for over an hour. I did have to help with a little direction on a couple of pages, but he and I were so proud he did build it by himself. The junior sets usually only do 1-4 Legos a page making it easier for younger children to build alone. Then he played with the rocket and loves the moving doors and removable accessory pieces

This was the perfect set. My son is 5 and loves Lego. He has always been into rockets and space, but after learning about the solar system in school he asked for this set. We got it for him for Christmas and he uses it to pretend he is going to the moon and other planets. I love how Lego allows them to use their imagination. Keep up the amazing work Lego. As always, all pieces and instructions were there and easy to follow.

What's better than a space shuttle that comes with both male and female astronauts!!! My 5yr old has a "blast" putting this together with me. As is true with its Lego vehicles, the shuttle doors open and close allowing access to the inside and bringing make believe time to the next level.

My 4 year old built this with some guidance but did a lot by himself. He loved it, and it looks great and can be played with as a space shuttle toy when finished. Older kids would enjoy this too. Especially since it looks cool when finished.
