SNACK FACTORY PRETZEL CRISPS

We have always purchased the PRETZEL CRISPS in a larger bag but we really like these smaller individual 1.5 ounce bags. How handy for lunches, keeping them in your car for snacks, or handing them out to the kiddies for a delicious treat.

On the package it advertises -- RETHINK YOUR PRETZEL! and wow, is this statement true. The package also advertises A THIN CRUNCHY PRETZEL CRACKER and they are right; these do fall into the cracker category. While tasting like a pretzel, these little treats are flat and so crisp. They are fun to enjoy with so many different food items as they are great for dipping. We have enjoyed them with salsa, peanut butter, adding cheese on top, ranch dressing, yogurt, and even with strawberry jam. All you have to do is let your appetite and imagination be your guide. They are wonderful straight from the handy convenient bag too.

Here's the stats on these simple and yummy treats in a 1.5 ounce serving --

35 carbs
1 gram dietary fiber
3 grams sugar
4 grams protein
490 mg sodium

While I personally find the sodium count a tad high, these are still a pretty healthy snack for you and yours. My grand babies LOVE these crisps and I feel good handing them out to them.

These were just received in the mail this week and the freshness expiration date is October 22, 2016. I don't think any of our PRETZEL CRISPS will be around until 2016 -- they are just that GOOD.

I have tried these before in larger bags, and was happy to see that Amazon was selling these as individual bags. I wanted to see how they would work out as snacks to carry in my car.

First of all, these are 1.5 oz, not those small ones you get in packages of chips, more like the ones you buy individually at the store.
Second, these are more like a cross between a cracker and a pretzel than a kind of chip. In fact, the closest equivalent are pita chips.
Finally, at 180 calories and 35 grams of carbs, for me these are actually two servings instead of the entire package.

Still, I love these. :) And yes, I will be carrying them in my car.

A quick note on freshness - while the Vine samples don't come from Amazon inventory, I do want to mention that the sample I received had a freshness date of Oct 22, 2016.

These are delicious chips that are great for dipping. Each one is like a flat pretzel. It's very thin and strong enough to scoop with, including scooping peanut butter. Taste is like a pretzel and it has a good crunch.

These are pretty expensive, especially compared to regular pretzels where you have so many brands to choose from. I think if you want these, then you already know what they are and that you want them. The individual serving packages are 160 calories each, which is a good amount for a snack or if you know you will be sharing (I have small children and likely will be sharing). One thing that is great about these as opposed to snack packs of other foods I like is that the pretzel chip is a very stiff food and the pretzel chips don't break when I carry the bag in my purse. It goes along with being stiff enough to scoop into peanut butter. The texture also keeps if it gets hot and cools down, so it's good for leaving in a car, as opposed to granola bars and snack bars which tend to get a funny texture. It's overall a convenient size and type of food for keeping as a travel snack.

I have given these pretzel crisps 5 stars based solely on taste. They don't taste like the traditional hard pretzels that you see in snack sections, but rather in my opinion they taste like (far tastier) soft pretzels. They're also flat, which means you can do a myriad of things with them from make little mini open faced sandwiches with them or use them as their own scoops for dip or sauce. I just like these and have bought them from time to time (so amazon offering me some free here for review was just a nice bonus). While no snack product like this will be great for you, that they are baked and have 0 saturated fat is a nice plus.

I like mine with mustard, just like a soft pretzel, but have also been known to eat them with whitefish salad, which is quite nice.

They've rolled out a few varieties of these including parmesan ad buffalo wing flavor. In my opinion, the original is still the best.

GOOD NEWS. If you're a pretzel lover but always felt many pretzels you buy are a little to thick and too lightly salted, the Snack Factory has gotten it right. These are truly THIN "pretzel crisps." I mean THIN. They are perfectly salted and for a pretzel lover, almost addicting. They come in small bags so they're perfectly set if you count calories. My one little quibble is that I avoid Corn Fructose Syrup, and some pretzels don't have them. YES I know that the sugar and fructose people have battled it out and there was a settlement, but I personally prefer products that if they are sweetened have sugar. THAT ASIDE these are absolutely delicious and it makes you realize someone should have come up with this idea of super thin prezels (I MEAN THIN), perfectly salted, a long time ago. You buy these in a big bag - and I bet you'll go through them quickly.
