I am GLAD I bought this kettle for my European trip. At home, I make tea everyday, sometimes multiple times a day, so I wanted to have a kettle with me in europe so if I wanted tea I could have it! The dual voltage worked fine for me. I used it once in the us before leaving, then switched the voltage and used it in europe, then switched the voltage back and I use it here daily. Other reviewers had mentioned that theirs had "burned out" after one use because the light went off, but this is what happens automatically when the water is boiled, it has an auto shutoff. I have not timed it but I would say it takes about 3 minutes to finish boiling. This unit is light and when packed it can be filled with other items so it doesn't take up too much space. I really like the mobility of this unit and I plan on taking it with me to my internship so I can brew tea there, too!

I received this product on the day promised. I was very happy with the size as the videos on you tube to me made it appear larger than it is.. This travel kettle/hot pot is built solidly, no loose or badly put together parts. Needless to say I did a lot of research and spent a few extra dollars on this kettle over the Narita or similar travel kettles and I am very glad that I did. I have the dual voltage model.
I plugged the pot in with just a little over the 0.5 liter mark. It took exactly 5 minutes and 3 seconds to get to a rolling boil and the unit shut off. I then filled it to exactly 0.5 liter and the boil was about 30 seconds quicker.
The lid is a great design. This is a little hard to describe but it fits into the handle and is designed like a bowl with a ridge in the middle where you can grasp it easily and take the lid off. Kudos for this great feature.
It is brushed stainless steel and the sides of the pot are about 3 inches higher than the 0.5 liter mark on the inside of the pot as this prevents water from splashing out when it is boiling.

And here is a great plus. When this kettle pot turns itself off after coming to a brief boil you can take the lid off and turn the unit back on and get a rolling boil going. I did this successfully three times for three minutes rolling boil times with no issues. Being able to sterilize water in some of the areas I travel to is critical and I am sure happy I can do this. (It was, after all the reviews I had read, the single feature I was worried about)

I am up in the air whether I want to heat up food or cook in the pot. I probably will at some point but there are so many ways to use boiling water to prepare nutritious meals that I probably won't unless I want to boil some eggs or something.Read more ›

I have used this about 50 times and is holding up very well. I use this right next to my desk to heat up water for coffee. Takes around 5mins or less to have a piping hot container.

For someone with limited room space, this product is a godsend! I can make about 2 cups of coffee with this. It probably common nowadays, but I used to have a kettle that had a flimsy top. With this product, when it is hot, the lid will not just fall off when you are pouring your water, it really helps to not worry about anything spilling. Highly recommended!

Purchased the dual voltage kettle specifically for trips to Europe. Read the directions carefully, and followed them exactly. After heating water, discarding it and refilling 3 times, the a portion of the kettle bottom is spotted and has scorch marks. Inquired other Amazon customers if they experienced this, and several did. Contacted Bonvita directly to find out why this happened, and expressed my concerns. Bonavita only has an answering machine. It took an email and several phone calls to customer "service" over a period of 4 days before finally receiving a response from Tamie Brown, the customer service person at Bonavita. After sending her a photo of the problem, her explanation is the "discoloration" is caused by the mineral content in the water. She couldn't explain why the discoloration is only on part of the kettle instead of the entire inside of the kettle since it was filled to the water line? I also pointed out that only filtered water was used. Her only solution was to offer me a sample of a descaler to see if that would "help." Clearly, Tamie is unclear on the meaning of descaling.
