Of course, it's back-to-school time, and I'm shopping for both a 3rd-grader and a high-schooler. When I saw this pop up, I immediately grabbed it in the hopes that it would survive my teenage boy. Sadly, it appears it couldn't even survive the trip to my house.
There are a lot of pros to this, which makes the con that much worse. I love the material - it feels sturdy enough to last, if not the whole year, then at least a full trimester. The dividers are made of the same material, so the flexibility of moving them in the notebook should do them immediate harm. They will need a little maneuvering to get out to move, which is actually nice - I was concerned that they would just fall out too easily. The pockets are...pockets. I like the multicolored dividers, making it easy to color-code classes, or even topics within a class. Frankly, there is a lot to like about this notebook.
What I *don't* love about this notebook is that the stitching to the cloth surrounding the spiral binding starting coming undone - within 10 minutes of opening the box. As I was lounging on the couch, checking out how the tabs came out and went back in, looking at the pockets, and basically just examining the product, I saw the stitching at the bottom of the notebook in the front. I was curious how strong it would be (it didn't look very strong at all), so I closed the notebook and just tried to see if the corner would lift up. I didn't tug, I didn't pull, I put virtually no force into it at all...and up it came. I am including a photo for others to see.
So while there is much to like about this notebook, I can't recommend a product that says "Lasts All Year. GUARANTEED!", and then starts falling apart within minutes of getting it. Yes, they will replace it. But really? 10 minutes? Thanks, but no thanks.
