So I bought this after reading the 1 star review thinking I might have to weld on some additional support. When I received the unit, it has a very hefty support piece that fits up inside the mower's back plate, and reinforces the unit quite well - no additional support is required. This piece is not shown on the pictures. When properly installed, it holds me - and I am 280 lbs - without flexing the plate at all. I proceeded to use it to yank out some blackberry bushes, which was done with a mooring line for a submarine, and involved driving forward at about walking speed till the line goes tight and stops the tractor (a John Deere D140) then backing up and doing it again until the bush came out. Severe heavy stress with no trouble. Extending the pivot for the trailer tow helps backing the trailer, easier to control. The square receiver is not a 2 inch standard, so a ball hitch receiver would need to be cut off to get the retaining pin hole to line up, and about 1 mm ground off each side to get a slide in fit, otherwise it will be a press fit and will not come off easily. Can only assume the 1 star reviewer failed to install unit properly.

Wow, what a great add on. I've always ground my teeth that I could not park my ten foot trailer behind my carport. Accessing this area requires a much tighter turning circle than is possible in my car, or truck. You would either hit the 80 year old Oak that shades the area, or the carport's storage room. Neither of which would appreciate the impact, and the resulting damage to the car, or truck, would be infuriating.

Well the terrain and obstructions are no problem now. The tighter turning circle of my riding mower coupled with this add on allows me to easily park the empty trailer where I want. It acts like a Jockey Truck for the trailer. It has a warning sticker saying that the maximum weight is 60 lbs. For an empty trailer, that's more than enough. Safer than moving it by hand, safer than parking the empty trailer with the truck and risking thousands of dollars in damage.

It assembled and installed easily with a few basic tools. The standard class three hitch fit securely. I have yet to order one of the add ons, but it won't be long before I do since I know how useful this is and can imagine how useful the platform or bucket brace would be.

Very happy with this product. I did not need to use the supports because I bolted it to another system that already had supports. I had to drill an extra hole to add a bolt but no biggie and it is strong as can be.

I put this on a John Deere X300. It fits great. The only thing I added was a bolt between the mount and the tractor to keep it from shifting left and right. I have tried other hitch things on my John Deere and all were terrible. This allows me to pull out a 5x10 trailer from behind the shop to get hitched up to my truck. It works great. I'd recommend it to all John Deer owners.

Love this hitch! It has helped me tremendously by being able to carry things from one place to another around my property. As long as the screw at the bottom is tight so that the hitch stays tight against my mower, it carries quite the load. I have carried a 5 gallon bucket full of pea gravel all around my property many times.
