This Alienware 17 R3 laptop is definitely a rugged piece of equipment. It is also HEAVY. After using it for an hour, the weight began hurting my legs. So, don't plan to use this without a desk or other support. Also, it comes with NO INSTRUCTIONS of any kind. It has plenty of built-in software and features, but I had no clue of how or when to use them. Having no instructions was very frustrating and made me feel that I would never receive the full benefit of all the technology and features built into this laptop. However, if you're looking for a laptop to run games, this thing runs Neverwinter at MAX settings, making characters appear in 3D (very cool). If there had been instructions, I probably would have kept it, but since there were none, I returned it. I gave it four stars for the build and quality and docked it one star due to its sheer weight and lack of instructional support. Incidentally, if it had a built-in carry handle on either side, the weight wouldn't have been an issue (but there is no handle). Every time I picked it up, it felt as though I might drop it at any moment due to the weight. So, if you buy it, make sure you also buy the extended drop-coverage.
