SO much better than those oogy boogy gross moon gels that are sticky and leave stains on my drum heads and attract dust and just become gross after a while.

Drum tacs look super clean on the drum heads, don't leave residue marks, work just as well if not BETTER than moon gels. Drum tacs are easily transferable and reusable. They say you are supposed to use rubbing alcohol or something when you remove the drum tac to activate the adhesive but I just pull it off one drum head and put it on another with no trouble and it sticks really well. Such a better solution to anything else that's on the market. The cool thing about these is that you can use them on drumheads AND cymbals. You can place a DT at the bottom of the cymbal - the closer to the edge the more it dampens it and takes away the wash and overtones of the cymbal. I use it on my 19'' crash to make it work as a ride cymbal sometimes, I just put a drum tac about 4 inches from the edge of the cymbal and it really dries it out nicely and converts it to ride/crash. It's pretty sweet.

I wouldn't be surprised once these become the standard for drum dampeners. All the top drummers are already starting to use them. I might be wrong on this but I believe they might cost a little more than moon gels but trust me they are totally worth the price and you will be very happy with them :)

Probably the best and most clever product ever issued in the last few years.
I am a professional drummer and, dividing myself between studio sessions and live performances, I must always be able to control the sound of my drums.
I have been struggling to find a way to get rid of those annoying overtones, especially on the snare drum. I've used T-shirts, duct tape, additional drumheads on top of the one mounted on the snare, toilet paper and wallets. The only result was to have a dead sound with no harmonics whatsoever.
Drumtacs allow you to control the sound in steps, you can use 1, 2 or even 3 drumtacs at a time and the sound will always be ALIVE!
Unlike the competitors, it can be used on the top head or the bottom head and it can be reused over and over.
The amazing thing is that they are very useful also on cymbals, bass drums, cowbells; they can be used almost on anything.
Forget about the messy drumkits with paper and duct tape, my kit now looks always amazing and clean!
I always bring drumtacs with me also to rehearsal rooms. I make sure the surface is clean and, at the end of the rehearsal, I just take them off and put them back into the package.
It is a must to have them handy for drummers and recording studio owners!

Drumtacs have quickly become one of my favorite products in the drumming industry. I have been playing kit and percussion for 18 years. I do so in a national touring project, playing multiple genres of music. And I have used all sorts of dampening products and techniques. After using Drumtacs for a little over 6 months, I am convinced that there is no comparison to anything else on the market. Never have I felt so in control of over-ring, sustain, and other harsh frequencies. The level of tone management and range of use seems limitless. I personally have applied them, with significant result, to acoustic heads(both batter and resonant), djembe, cymbals, and have even used them on mesh heads to reduce trigger sensitivity issues with a hybrid setup. I carry them with me everywhere and love finding new ways of applying their capabilities. I plan on experimenting with bells and blocks next, but expect to see the same trend continue. The ability to re-use them so often, without loss of quality, is alone worth the price. I was only able to find them in select locations. So it was great to see them available on Amazon! If you have any reservations - just read a few of the reviews. Every drummer and sound engineer that I talk to about them is in solid agreement about their effectiveness. You won't regret introducing them into your current set-up.

It's refreshing to know that you can have such a high degree of tonal restraint with one product. Especially in a concert venue or recording atmosphere, with an array of live mics. I can easily see why I am catching glimpses of Drumtacs all over professional stages on a regular basis. I am convinced that the more they are tried within the industry - the more they will become a new standard, both on the road and in the studio. I love putting my weight behind an exceptional product or service, and Drumtacs are proving to be very worthy of their new-found fame.

I've been using these for a while now. They work perfectly and I'll add that they're easy to clean. They don't collect sawdust in the top and the sticky underside can be cleaned with alcohol. After lifting and replacing them on different drums, they'll pick up the dirt and grime on the heads. But once you clean them they're basically brand new again. I use just one on the edge of my snare, one for the rack tom and two on the floor toms. I'm not using them on my cymbals but they work great to tame an overpowering ride. Keep the packaging they come in for storage.

Now that Moon Gel's patent is no more, there are so many wannabe companies that have tried to come up with something similar to either replace or improve upon this type of drum dampening.

Unfortunately; most of them, for me, really miss the point of using these types of products or they over-do the affect and reduce the proper tonal properties of my drums. For my taste, the standout exception to this is Drumtacs and it is for one simple reason: Sound. Of course, it's all whatever each drummer likes but I pick everything I play based on sound & tone as the first priority.

The real difference that makes Drumtacs my favorite option is the fact that they effectively control the sound without changing the pitch from extra weight or coverage area.

They don't use goopy adhesives or gel for the contact patch and, surprisingly, that helps a lot when adjusting my tuning. The Drumtacs material makes them easier to grab and adjust as needed, too. Move as needed. Boom.

The bottom line is better sound, more precise control of the tuning, and a much easier product to use versus all of the other methods out there. I've tried almost all of them during the last few months and, for my taste and preference for a natural tone from my drums (it's why I picked the brand, model, material I play), the absolute best results continue to be with Drumtacs. I don't use them on my cymbals because I love their sound, but you can use them there too without harming the finish.

There are lots of ways to use them. It's better than muffling your drum tone and they maintain the bounce, feel, and pitch better than anything else.
