This is waterproof all right. I put it to the test. Poured water on myself and it all just ran off. I wish they would make a longer model, raincoat length. It does have short arms, which was perfect for me, but if you're long of limb you should not get this. If you're very petite, a size XS is good as a layer, and you can move around easily.
