I don't know how long this product has been on the market but I just stumbled across it at my local grocery store the other day. I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. I tried the smoothie recipe on the back of the package (super simple) and it was really good! I like that the powder doesn't have all the fat that regular peanut butter in a jar has (hey, how do they do that anyway?) so I can work this into my diet plan. Between the powder and the milk for the smoothie, I got a good dose of protein and calcium. It made a quick, easy, yummy, and low cal breakfast drink. I'm looking forward to trying some other recipes with it.

You can also reconstitute the powder with water to get it back to a peanut butter type consistency. I gave this a try tonight and it was okay. I used it as a dip for some apple slices. I'm not sure I like the chocolate peanut flavor that much this way. Will have to try this with just the peanut flavor next time and see how good a replacement it is for regular PB. It would be awesome if you could get a PB fix without the calories and fat!

The bag has a resealable closure, which is super helpful especially since it's not one of those crappy zip lock style closures that is a royal pain in the butt to get the ridges to line up and close. You know what I mean, right? It's more like a velcro style so one swipe and it's closed. I can't remember what I paid for it in the store but I'm pretty sure it was way less then the price here. $11.95 is ridunkulous! I'll check it out at the store and post an update later.

UPDATE: I'm back! Checked out the grocery store price and this product was $4.69. So $11.95 is more than 2.5X the grocery store price... criminy!Read more ›

Found this at a local discount grocery. Having recently tried and liked the Santa Cruz organic peanut powder, I thought CHOCOLATE peanut powder would have to be pretty awesome. Nope.
Aside from the fact that it's Jif (which is generally pretty crappy as evidenced by the ingredients in Jif peanut butter (hydrogenated oil!) so I didn't expect much, I still assumed it would taste good. But it doesn't.
This doesn't taste chocolatey and it has a bitter taste. It's yucky.
The only reason I don't give it one star is because it does have sugar and late at night when there's nothing else, I find myself eating this for the sweetness. But each time I regret the waste of calories. I should probably just throw it away.
Now that I think about it, I am going to reduce it to 1 star.
I would not buy this again.
